He’s Non Stop. But hot dang, he’s cute. {Huggies SlipOns}

“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Huggies, but all my opinions are my own. #HuggiesSlipOn #pmedia http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

You guys.

Can we talk about O-Bo for a second?

I’m not a first time mom.  This isn’t my first rodeo.  Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

None of my kids are those sweet quiet little souls that sit quietly doing quiet things while being quiet quietly.

They are ALL active and loud.

Even little Jilly Bean.  Oh yes, even her.

So keep that in mind when I tell you that Owen…?

KID IS INSANE.

Happy.

Smiley.

Loveable.

IMG_0387

MISCHEVIOUS.

NON STOP.

NAUGHTY. PORKCHOP.

The kid seriously never stops.

He is into every. thing.  Everything.  Constantly.  You cannot take your eyes off of him for one millisecond or he will be into something or eating glass.

I’m pretty sure he knows it too.  He has this little twinkle in his eye, a wide two toothed grin, and then runs (RUNS!) away giggling.  GIGGLING!

He is exhausting.

But you can’t even get mad.

Because of that twinkle in his eye.  Because it’s really kind of funny.  And a lot cute.

“Ay!  Owen!”  But always with a laugh.  Because it’s impossible to not crack up at the kid.

IMG_0397

 Because baby’s got SWAGGER.

“O BO!”

All the live long day.

“Owen!!!!  STOP!  No!  Put that down! Close that drawer!  Stop eating the dog food!  Get out of the dishwasher!  Put that spatula back!!!  Give me that fork! ACK!”

Non. Cotton. Picking. Stop.

And always with a smile.

PicMonkey Collage

Exhibit A.

This is how he kept hydrated on vacation.

I may or may  not have seen him drinking from a puddle of sprinkler water on the patio concrete.

More than once.

Sippy cups are for babies.

PicMonkey Collage2

Exhibit B.

He not only walks…he not only runs…he CLIMBS.

CLIMBS.

The other day I looked over to find him scaling my nightstand.  His fat foot on the shelf, and his grubby hands reaching for my Kindle.

I will point out that as soon as I snapped the shutter on that picture of him standing in the chair, the whole thing tipped over and he faceplanted.

And then got up and toddled off to wreak more havoc elsewhere.

No bigs.
PicMonkey Collage3

Exhibit C.

Did I mentioned he CLIMBS?

Tess had food.  I don’t even know what it was.  So he climbed up the foot and leg massager thing until he got to her.

Did I mention he turned one last week?

As in, he’s literally 12 months old?

And here I thought the baby of the family might hold off on walking for a while…

IMG_0401

So you can imagine that keeping clothes and diapers on this kid can be a challenge.

I had the opportunity to try out the new Huggies Slip On diapers, and O wore them all week on vacation.  They slide on so you can wrangle his wiggly-ness into them easily, and you just rip apart the sides to get them off.

Bonus: no tempting tabs he can just pull off and run free, if you catch my drift.

Plus, they are soft and thin so they mold and fold and keep up with his constantly moving tush. (The official way to say that is Trusted Leak Protection, but I’m not official like that.)

If you’d like to try them out, there’s a Target coupon for $2 off HERE.

But even better, I’m giving away a $25 Target gift card to one of y’all!

You don’t have to use it for diapers.  Unless you want to.  It’s Target…pretty sure you won’t have to try very hard to spend that, right?

To enter, leave a comment below telling me what the craziest/funnest/fondest memory of your own little mover and shaker.  (If you’re not a parent yet, it’s okay…tell me about a niece, nephew, friend…and if you don’t have any of those, just tell me how cute O-Bo is.  That’ll do.)

One entry per person.  Open to US residents only (lo siento those of you who live elsewhere).  I’ll pull one random commenter on Saturday.

Good luck!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

When Liz started walking, she didn’t just walk. We dropped her off at Sunday school and watched as she started running around like the other kids. We watched as she was coming around one side of the room and another kid was coming from another side of the room. Did I mention something about running? Well they didn’t see each other and BAM!!! Both went down. We stood there stunned as Liz got up laughing and ran off to the other side of the room. Meanwhile, the other mom ran to her kid to comfort her. I was never the mom who ran to her kids everytime they fell. I waited for the blood curdling scream, which hardly ever happened. Then I would comfort them. Was I terrible to wait? They survived… and are now 28 & 30. Thank the Lord!

My son started walking at 8 months, and my daughter started walking at 7 months. I realize this makes me sound like ridiculous…most don’t believe me…but they did. While my daughter started walking super super early, as in the day after she turned 7 months, (again I realize that makes me sound like I am lying, but I have it on video with the date. :)) girl has absolutely NO balance. She is 15 months now. Last weekend she was walking in the travel trailer, that wasn’t level, and was literally walking sideways, falling down, belly giggling, and doing it again. No balance. No coordination. No fear.

This past holiday season we were at church with my MIL . We celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas in our house and during the lighting of the Advent Candles and prayers my preschooler shouted at the top of his lungs “Look Mom! They do the Menorah here too, just like we do at home!” The congregation all laughed.

Um…my NINE month old just took his first step and he climbs EVERYTHING too. He keeps us on our toes figuring out an “Ollie-proof” barrier to his big brother and big sister’s room when they are settling down for bed. I swear he is half monkey. Ha!

My kid is grown (23 years old) and I’m sure I’d hurt my brain if I tried to remember something funny from his diaper days. I’m postiive I could have used these form fitting Huggies way back when he had ‘loose bowels syndrome’ – if you catch my drift.

I feel like you are describing my son when you write about Owen. Gabe is 2.5 and he is a dare devil. He’ll be the death of me. From climbing on the table to riding his power wheels standing up I just know this is going to be a wild ride of us as parents. And BTW…before Gabe was potty trained I use those Huggies Slip Ons for a year and LOVED them!!!

Our little ruby, child #4, with 3 older brothers is the most nutso, busy, into everything child. She believes everything in this house belongs to her and is at her disposal. It is a constant all day long adventure. You can’t leave that child alone for a second! Good thing she’s so cute. ;)

When my little one was still crawling at nearly a year we were camping and she was following an ant around. Crawling all over behind it. And then after 15 or so minutes of following it she just grabbed it and stuffed it in her mouth, chomped and swallowed. Like that was the plan all along. Follow, then eat. We all laughed at that one.

My 16 month old is just like Owen! She is everywhere and into anything! She loves to run into our home office to visit my husband where he works all day. One day, she ran in there alone. We figured out where she was when we heard the speakerphone dialing a number and ringing. Thankfully, the last numbered dialed was her grandfather and not a client!

My daughter was barely 13 months old, and not really into moving a whole lot. I left her with toys and went to switch the wash in another room. When I came back in she had scaled our built-in bookshelf and was sitting three shelves up, watched into the space, smiling like a chesire cat.

My son is just 6 months old, but he already can reach for things before I know what’s happening. Like the spoon in his bowl of oatmeal, my glasses, my hoop earrings, you name it, he grabs it. I have a feeling we might have an early walker here….and I might be getting a few gray hairs!

My husband went to visit his brother and we hadn’t seen my little niece since she was around a year old (a couple of year, so she didn’t remember him). Their out in WA and we’re in PA right now. She was VERY excited and we thought it was great she remembered him (or so we thought). Then we found out that she thought Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants was coming to visit. =D

Both of my boys started walking pretty early, 9-10 months. They were both very active and still are. Man, I could tell you some stories about those two. But as far as one of the funniest, my oldest son learned to climb on top of our dresser and would start dancing. I have a video of him, probably 2 years old, climbing up the dresser and shaking his little rump. That’s going to be something to show his future wife.

    Lynette says:

Both of my kids walked at 9 months old too (they are both grown now, one has an 8 month old and one is prego now)! They were both very eager to take advantage of this newfound advantage over Mom. I once found my son sitting on an ATV out in the garage. He was only a little over a year old and was so proud of himself! I thought I was going to have a heart attack! Needless to say, it was just the beginning of a fun filled life with an active boy!

My 40th birthday surprise was finding out that I was expecting a baby girl after having 3 boys. It rocked the boys world to have so much pink in the house. My oldest son was 16 at the time and couldn’t imagine that his mom and dad would be having another baby!!!
They are now 5, 10, 15, 20 !!!! It really does go sooo fast…….even the diaper stage!!

All my littles, so far, have been early rollers. So they were off and mobile into anything they could get to!! My faves are the fun sayings. The latest and greatest was from my youngest who told my one day in his bath that we forgot to wash his puddles. Puddles? I was scared to ask. But he said, “yeah, my puddles, right here…” and pointed to his arm pits! Adorable. They’ve been called puddles ever since :)

    D Money says:

My sons were always happiest and in the best mood right after a bath. So we would dry them off and give them a few minutes to wander around the house “commando” before we got them dressed. When they were old enough to talk, the would run around the house yelling “Nakeddddd Boyyyy!”

    Heather Brewer says:

My second son, Isaiah, was a late walker due to severe illness and a five week stay in the hospital. Once he started walking at eighteen months, he never looked back. As soon as he figured out how to run, he never stopped! Now at three years old he still runs everywhere, but doesn’t always pay attention to where he’s going, resulting in a lot of “crash and burn” :)

My troublemaker has a month longer to bake, but he is particular about where he wants to be. If I lay on “his side” at night (right side, cramping his spot) he will poke and prod until I roll back over. Can’t imagine what he will be like when he can move wherever he wants!

owen, or mr porkchop, is super cute!

  37. 37

I had no idea these existed, but I am so glad they do! No joke, less than a week ago, as I was torturing my 10 month old by trying to put a diaper him, I was thinking that someone needed to invent slip on diapers. So much easier than trying to get regular diapers on a baby who is trying to stand up on the changing table.

  38. 38

One of my favorite stories was when I was potty training my middle child, and she would move her potty to the living room to use the bathroom so she would not miss out on anything. It did not matter who was there, she would use the bathroom. Greatness!

My kid refuses to use the potty at home. She potties at day care, church, when we’re out shopping, every where but at home. At home…it’s always in the diaper. It has finally started to bother her when her diaper gets wet, and she immediately strips it off, climbs on her changing table, and retrieves a fresh one. But heaven forbid I try to help her put it on. It’s always amusing to watch her work those tabs herself. She’d be in hog heaven if we’d break down and get her the slip on kind! I don’t think that really meets the qualifications of “fondest memories” as you requested…so I’ll go with this:

Changing my son’s diapers used to be a two person job because boy is crazy strong and flexible. We actually used Huggins slip ons and it made everything easier. He’s potty trained now and our new issue is him preferring to pee outside and in public places. Boys!

Okay, I have a son who started out like that ~ but he was my FIRST! He was adorably cute, like your Owen, with that twinkle always in his eye. He started early… walked, climbed, toddled, ran~ with me chasing him all the while. His name is Charles (IV after his dad, granddad & great granddad) but we always called him Chase. Maybe that was a mistake??

Lets just say that the bottom broiler drawer of the stove was taped closed with duct tape for several years, because he would pull the drawer open & stand on it to climb on top of the stove… Is it any wonder that my 2nd son was FIVE years later? And he was almost as bad!!

My oldest fell out of a window when he was 2. (It was a one story house, by the way.) The window was open and he leaned against the not so sturdy screen to shout hi to the neighbor girls when he took the tumble. There were tears and a trip to the ER to glue shut the notch he took out of his forehead. He’s the team captain of the his three younger brothers. So far, he’s the most graceful. I’m in the best kind of trouble.

  47. 47

Each of my children are trying to kill me with fright. My oldest, when he was 8 months old, had just learned to pull up. I didn’t think about the repercussions of that and a 24 second bathroom break later he had consumed and spread on his entire closet an entire jar of Vaseline. The second son is more into electrocution, he was sitting up front in church for the children’s sermon and from three rows back I watched him pick up a paper clip and start to put it into an open electrical outlet. The pastor’s wife was suddenly sitting on the floor in a beautiful dress holding our boy very tightly. Her eyes were as wide as saucers. My daughter I would consider the “cautious” one, she was one when she broke out of the stroller and climbed to the top of the playground to reach her older brothers. But the baby, the fourth one, that boy, he is 21 months old. Today he jumped into the swimming pool more than once at a friends home, did a flying flip off of a tricycle got up and got back on the bike, and 10 minutes before bedtime he fell off of stool in the bathroom because he was trying to climb up on the sink. We got his head glued back together at the ER in record time and he is finally asleep. Me? I just need some chocolate.

Miss A didn’t walk until she was 16 months old. Prior to that she crab crawled everywhere. It was the craziest thing but I didn’t mind because I always knew where she was. Now, she launches herself off the side of the plastic pool, runs across the yard in a blur, and basically outruns her parents. And she’s 4. “Help me, Obi Wan Kanobi, you’re my only hope…”
