Easter 2011

We visited with family in Southern California for the Easter holiday this year.

It was busy with lots of different houses to stop by and visit.

My kids got to do two egg hunts…but I only got pictures of one of them.

Trying to wrangle the three and snap pictures proved to be a bit of a challenge.

Between kids running in circles excitedly and the bad lighting, all these pictures were taken in Automatic.

My respect for photographers who specialize in children’s photography grows by the day.

He argued with me that this shirt wasn’t green.  His favorite color.  But I was wearing green.  And I’m not into matching my kid like we’re going to some throwback Sadie Hawkin’s Dance.

I win.

And then he insisted that I take one with the bucket on his head.  Because really, why not?

Lucy was in a very serious mood.  She was a woman on mission.

In fact, my mom had put $1 bills in about 9 of the eggs.

Lucy found 8 of them.

That was obviously luck of the draw, but it cracks me up that of all the kids who would score like that it would be LuLu.

That’s my girl!

So off we went into the sprinking morning to find plastic eggs filled with treasures.

Auntie Diana helped Jilly Bean hunt for eggs too…which she just loved.

And then inspected each one.

Lucy was just checking for that rogue egg with the dollar bill in it.

I just had to snap a picture of Lucy’s curls.  I don’t know why it surprises me, but I still marvel at the tightly wound ringlets.

Unlike this girl’s hair that probably wouldn’t hold a curl even with all the Aqua Net in the world.  It’s a good thing the 80’s big hair days are behind us…or she’d cry every morning getting ready for school.

My professional egg hunter.  He was quite proud of his loot.

And then we went through our treasures.  See Jill in these pics?  Snaking her sister’s eggs?  And then yelling at her?  And then looking all angelic and innocent?  “What?  Me?  Who?  No!”

Yeah.

Undercover Naughty.

Don’t let those blonde piggies fool you.

As a side note, I would like to remind you that my girls are twins.

And Daddy “helped”.  Which is code for Jacking All the Good Candy For Himself.

My kids easily have three times as much candy as they got from Halloween.

Which means Mom and Dad have eaten waaaayyyy too much sugar the last couple of days.

I’m thinking it’s time to get this stuff out of my house!

Did you have a good Easter?

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

We had the most laid back Easter EVER! My middle daughter came down with some sort of eye infection so we stayed home. We had a really nice time though :)

LOVE all the pics – I swear I feel like I know your kid’s personalities, just based on your descriptions!
Also, how in the heck do you get your kid’s to wear flip flops? Mine won’t have anything to do with them even though it’s all I wear!

you know, we’ve just always put flippies on our kids since they were babies. as they get older, they get to a point where they seem to not want them at first, but i basically tell them that if they don’t wear them, they can’t go outside or whatever. it lasts like two seconds…now, henry pretty much LIVES in flippies.

I love the pictures!! Not only because I bought the EXACT same dresses that Lucy and Jill have on for my niece, but the picture of Henry. It cracks me up because one Easter when I was probably Lucy and Jill’s age, my older brother (4 years older) insisted on my mom taking a picture of ME with a bucket on my head, except I wasn’t finding it funny, I was bawling my eyes out :)
