Starbucks Redo

Okay, I *have* to tell you this story:

So, remember this post where I totally wanked and whined about Starbucks????

Well, the very. next. night I packed up into the car on my way to watch one of Andy’s basketball games.

It was chilly out, and a hot chocolate seemed awfully cozy and yummy.

As I drove through the parking lot to the big green mermaid sign in the sky, I thought to myself:

“sweet…and I totally remember all of the sizes, so this should be easy!”

Yes, I really thought that.

Because I’m lame like that.

So I pulled up to the kiosk, and coolly announced:

“I’ll take a grande hot chocolate with whipped cream.”

Quick. Confident. I felt like the cool kid in school. I had this.

Until…

“Would you like the regular hot chocolate or the signature hot chocolate?”

I. almost. died.

I seriously started laughing.

Hysterically.

The poor girl probably thought I was a psychopath.

“M’am…?”

“Um, I’m sorry…I don’t know what the difference is…”

“Well, our signature is a blend of four different imported cocoas…”

I almost lost it again.

Really???

Really???

Hot chocolate is this complicated too???

“I’ll take the regular kind. Thanks.”

***

On another note, the bad part of blogging is that everyone calls you on…well, everything.

I had four…count ’em FOUR…different people comment on my Starbucks…

“…what???!!! I thought you hated Starbucks???…”

Gee whiz.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Oh, that is TOO funny! ;D I really never have trouble ordering at Starbucks, but my mom is always confused by it. My sweetheart knows what he wants, but not how to pronounce it! It can be pretty comical.

Thanks for sharing your story to brighten my morning! :)

P.S. Did you ever announce the LilaFrances winner? I'm dying to know if it was me! ;)

Jacky-I did…and sadly, it was someone else. (It was at the end of the Friday Favorites Post…maybe I should rethink how I do that…) BUT, there is a new giveaway this week you can try for! :)

I have to say I am a huge starbucks addict but the other day I went to a different coffee shop, a chain that's only in Canada (I think) Tim Hortons. This place is seriously like crack for us Canadians (although I stand firm that I hate it haha). The drive thru lines are always spilling over onto the streets here and it drives me nuts. Anyway since it was close to the house I had to go there and of course I didn't know how to order (its just regular coffee too mind you)…I had to ask ugh! Give me a large double double, or a large triple triple…well wait what comes first the cream or sugar so if I want it not done in an even number how do I know what to say 4 by 2 or 2 by 4 or is it a triple double or a double triple, I'll stick to starbucks where at least I know the lingo hahahaha!

Ah ha ha, too funny! I was in there the other day, and after successfully remembering the correct lingo for my drink (grande, non-fat mocha, no whip please)I realized I should order a water, too. "Can I also get a large cup of water, no ice?" To which the clerk replies, "Oh, a Venti water, no ice?" I had to laugh! I didn't realize their fancy lingo also applied to tap water. :)

four kinds of imported cocoa?! is that really necessary? seems over the top for me. i went to starbucks a few nights ago and totally thought of you as i ordered my tall apple caramel something-or-other. i always feel like they give me the look if i don't order coffee. but hey, thanks to your post i at least knew what size to ask for!

ha! i am personally holding a grudge against starbucks b/c they no longer make decaf frappuccinos. and yes i spelled that word wrong, and i'm leaving it that way in protest. :)

I read this post and laughed out loud. No, not LOL but really laughed out loud.

I flippin' HATE ordering at Starbucks. I raise a fist against the Man and still say small, medium, and large.
