Super Bowl 2007

Well, it’s 8:15, the Super Bowl is officially over, the house is quiet, and all is cleaned up and back to normal (special thanks to Becky for all her help!).

I never did an official headcount, but it sure was a full house. There were a ton of kids, and they kept themselves entertained throughout the entire event. First, they played in the dirt, and as you can see from little Haaken’s face, most of them ended up with dirt pretty much everywhere.

Then, after chowing down on some burgers and dogs, they played with some tennis balls on the pool table. The picture really doesn’t capture the absolute pandemonium and screeching going on during this funny game. I wish I had a video camera. They played like this for hours…which was nice, because with the exception of the occasional cry because the dogs stole someone’s potato chip, I think the adults were able to mostly enjoy themselves without having to keep too close of an eye on the little ones.

Dads sat in the living room glued to the game, while the moms all wandered around gabbing. The kids were in hog heaven getting to graze on all the junk food they wanted without getting into trouble. The dogs were especially happy, what with the constant petting, playtime and snacks they could easily steal from chubby little hands. I’m pretty sure they’re going to have sore bellies tonight from all the junk they ate.

We had fun, and I hope everyone else did. We appreciate that everyone was willing to do that “looooong drive” all the way to Santa Maria for the party. It was pretty awesome. Little Nate Theule, at the end of the night, pulled on my pant leg and asked if he could spend the night. I think he thought that the party was never going to end! Sadly, it’s over…but we’ll be sure to find some other excuse to invite everyone over again soon! (By the way, who won the game?)

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.
