Buddha Belly Pic #1

First off, I want you all to know that I HATE taking pictures. I absolutely despise it..which is part of the reason this post has been so long in coming. But, I will let you know that I did make Andy take a picture of my “budding” self (that’s a euphamism for growing wider by the day). I am posting it below, only because I promised my mom that I would since she’s so far away and hasn’t seen me in my pregnant state. Be nice…I know I look like a moose, but hey, I’m “with child”. Give a girl a break. As you can see from the picture below, my belly is quite large, and my rear end (which has always been large) is now moving into the extra large category. I’ve decided that it’s a balancing technique. Now, as my belly gets bigger, so will my butt, and keep me from face planting every time I get up. God has it all figured out I tell you!

I’ve officially gained 13 pounds total…which is a lot when you’re 5’2″. I guess I should probably start that walking I was supposed to be doing all along. Dangit. I hate doing anything physical! Anyway, here I am at 20 weeks to the day. Let’s hope I can still fit in the camera viewfinder by the time July rolls around!

(As a side note, what you can’t tell from the picture is that the other day I was standing at the copy machine at work and noticed that my belly looked lopsided…like it poked out on the right side more than the left…turns out that the baby is hanging out on the right side! Weird!)

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

My belly is also lopsided; the baby is more on the right-hand side, which Kevin finds amusing. :)

Yeah! Thanks for the picture. You are so beautiful! My butt also kept up with my belly. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. I didn’t get a single stretch mark on my stomach, but my butt and thighs are a whole different story! It must be something about being 5’2″. =)

I’m also 5’2″ and recenently asked my doctor why I seem so big if I am right on track. The whole centimeter measurement they do of your uterus is always at my exact week. She said because I am short there is less room to hide the pregnancy, so my 33 cm belly looks full term to a lot of people where a 5’7″ person would look smaller, even if they gained more.

You look just great – not nearly as huge as you think. Very cute. Thanks for the pic, Jeannett – this grandma is feeling far away too. Not sure how Brian will be feeling when I move in down there this summer! Not to mention you and Andy. By the way, Andy – I’m proud to be a hippie! I need to read these blogs more often.

    Love you both – Mom/MK
