What happened?

Don’t know what happened to the link below, but it suddenly quit working…

In any case, go to:

www.naturalfamilyco.com

And then click on the “Download the free A Lotus Birth Picture Gallery!” It’s in a purple box off to the right. You might have to scroll down a bit.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

I’d say those photos of the half dried out placenta are pretty darn graphic, that is icky!!! (For the record the doctor showed me mine and it was fine, but it had just been delivered and I didn’t tote it around in a blanket.) I don’t EVEN want to know what they did with it after the cord detached (did you know some people eat it?!)

I find it ironic that some of the most vocal advocates for natural birth and that are anti-doctor, are soooooo into their own birth method. IE they renounce all things “unnatural”, but then go on to make it about more than just pushing the baby out when it’s time. Just an observation.

(For the record I will not be coming to visit the Gibson baby until the placenta is good and gone! :) )

Yea, the pictures are gross, but I meant graphic in a “up close and personal birthing photos” kind of way. I know it’s natural and all, but some of the photos of birth are quite zoomed in!

I agree about the natural birth advocates looking down their noses at other options. Hopefully I’m not that way too! I honestly don’t care how anyone else does it, this is just what I want to do, and I blogged about it because I knew people would have so many questions! (Besides, I didn’t really want to drive all the way to French…wink, wink!)

HAHA about French, oh you crack me up!!! I have to admit I have to keep from laughing every time I tell people I’ll be delivering at Marian. Oh the stigma…:)

I agree the pics weren’t “birth graphic”, I knew what you meant. I was so not expecting to see that placenta though! (What will Brenda do with your placenta???)

No you’re definitely not a “natural childbirth snob”. So I think we can still be friends…even if my baby is born at Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria…

OK, so I suppose you could save the palcenta and use it as a centerpiece on your table!!! How weird!!

    Thanks for reposting it.

Love you and the big guy too,

So, on a different Lotus birth website, one lady talked about how after a couple days it started to smell like old meat…and they had to keep the cat away, because it kept trying to eat it! YUCK!

Well, apparently, we’ll just be digging up a hole in the backyard and burying my placenta. Apparently it makes for great fertilizer. Seriously. The thing is that to dispose of it, you need to get a permit from County Health and pay like $75…because it’s a biohazard. Although Brenda made an interesting point in that you don’t have to get a permit every month you have your period, and essentially your placenta is about 9 months worth of well, you know. So, you’re just donating all at once instead of small increments!

Ever wonder what they do with it at hospitals? They sell your placenta to cosmetic companies, who use it to make collagen! I will NEVER look at some celebrities with their plumped up lips the same way again! Sick.

I’m not really excited about burying my placenta, but I’m even less excited about trying to get a stupid permit…trust me, it’s more work than you could ever imagine. Trying to get someone from Environmental Health to call you back is just short of impossible.
