Everyday moments captured.

This wristless boy.

His happy quilt.

A new lime green chevron crib sheet.

All is well in the Universe.

We started off the week on a bit of a somber note.

Did you know that Tuesday was the official Day of Remembrance for the Shuttle Disasters?

Henry wore his NASA shirt and we had him watch a few videos on You Tube before school.  We believe its important to teach our kids about the men and women who play an critical role in our country’s history.  It’s a sanitized version, but we want them/him to understand that it’s not just toys you fly around the room.  We also want him to understand why we give him the stink eye when he makes them crash and explode in play.  It’s a delicate balance: allowing him to be a little boy and play like little boys do…and understanding that it’s real too.

Because of Jill’s epilepsy, we have to keep an eye on her pretty much all the time.  Including naps and at night.

We had a hand me down 10+ year old behemoth of a baby video monitor system that finally died a couple of weeks ago…sending back nothing but static.

I “splurged” (is it a splurge when it’s really for medical reasons?) on this video monitor.

The screen is wireless so I can pop it in my pocket and carry it around the house with me (it’s only a little bigger than my iPhone)…it’s COLOR…and I can even pan the camera so that I can see the whole room for full view of naughtiness.

But my favorite part of all is that I can talk through it and tell the girls to get back in bed.

Which, for the first few days FREAKED THEM OUT because they couldn’t figure out how I knew what was going on, or where my voice was coming from.

Simple pleasures.

I have had ZERO interest in joining Vine (the new social media thing that’s like Instagram, but for short videos)…except that I’m tempted for no other reason but to upload video of O-Bo riding the Roomba around the kitchen.

The way dads play with babies is SO different than the way moms play with babies.

I love it.

We’ve had a busy couple of days with assessment season in full swing (moms of special needs, can I get a what what?!).

We had this funny 25 minute block of time between meetings so we popped into a Panera for pastries and a few pages of schoolwork.

Henry looked around the room and exclaimed “Mom!  Everyone here is old except for us!”

Awesome.

IMG_3531 He cries.

It does happen.

It’s just really easy to make him stop.

Namely by feeding him.

Or yelling ‘O-Boooooooooooooo!!!!!!”

#selfiesat30

Right?  I mean, with a baby.  Obvs.

My kids LOVE yogurt.

Like loooooooove yogurt.

I mean, I like yogurt too…but the kids pretty much act like it’s chocolate cake encrusted in diamonds stuffed with gift certificates to spa retreats.  (What?!  Is that weird?)

So when Chobani offered to send us a box of their new Tubes, I happily supplied my address.

As you can see, they were a pretty big hit.  The yogurt.  Not the taking pictures.  Ahem.

Next time I want to try and freeze them.  Then they’ll really think I’m really awesome.

Speaking of awesome, the fabulous folks at Chobani would like to give away TWO variety cases containing six 4-packs of Champions cups (for a total of 24 cups per winner).

Honestly, it’s pretty much the coolest thing ever to get a giant box in the mail filled with crazy ice packs and all this jazz including still cold yogurt.  It’s like fancy space technology.

All you have to do to enter is like both of our FB pages.  That’s two entries.  I’ll pull the two winners sometime on February 11th.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

I don’t have kids yet. But when I do, I hope they are identical to yours…not in a creepy way though… my dog sits with us on a chair at the kitchen table, which is kind of the same thing as having children, yea?

I was a sophomore in high school when the space shuttle Challenger exploded. We were listening to it on the PA system when the transmission was cancelled and our principal announced the explosion. My science teacher left the room in tears. He had done experimental testing for NASA and was devastated. Never forget.
