I mentioned a while back that The Land of Nod was opening a store in South Coast Plaza (Orange County, CA), and I got to attend the grand opening event.
You guys.
The store. Every square inch. Every nook and cranny.
Fabulous. Quirky. Colorful. Modern. Delicious.
Rainbow. Brick. Wall.
If you think the catalog and website are fun…the stuff is 100 times more awesomer in real life.
Plus, they had people walking around with these fancy little appetizers. I explained to one of the servers that this wasn’t my real life and that I didn’t know the rules about how many I was allowed to take, what I was supposed to do if I didn’t like it, and why did I need a brand new napkin each time? My real life was dumping congealed milk out of discovered sippy cups and to not judge me for eating 10 of those little s’mores things.
She promised. We’re best friends now.
I may not know a whole lot about fancy appetizers being served to you on silver trays, but I do know Pretty Happy Things.
The rainbow polka dot rug? I almost can’t stand it, it’s so perfect. Boys’ bedding? I can tell you that I have never in the history of Ever been a fan of boy bedding, but the color palette and robots is awesome. If I wasn’t over the moon in love with my boys’ quilts, I would totally get that. And that’s saying a lot coming from Picky McPickerson.
The crocheted pea for the Princess and the Pea bedding? Cutest ever. And that peachy pink and gold set up? Need. For MY room.
Lighting. ‘Nuff said.
Rainbow color everywhere. That Jenny Lind bed? The rainbow storage baskets? The tall wire bins? THE BUNTING???!!!!
One of each please.
Actually, make that two.
My kids need toys like they need a hole in the head.
But that didn’t stop me from almost buying ALL THE THINGS anyway.
The dolls. I die.
Oh hello friends and sweet baby Maxwell.
I squished him. It was goodness.
So fab and hip.
After wandering around for two hours…picking up this…carrying it around…putting down that…circles and circles and circles…more of those little appetizer things…I finally decided on cute monogrammed throw pillows for each of the kids.
Because, you know, I don’t have enough throw pillows in my house.
I also grabbed a gray lampshade for the lamp base from Henry’s original nursery set up.
Owen doesn’t much appreciate his green O, but I do.
I also bought a J, but the ones they had in stock were snagged by other bloggers, so they are mailing it to me.
It’s dusty aqua. Which is basically the best.
I also got this, but I didn’t take a picture because it will ruin a project reveal I have coming up.
In retrospect, how fun would it have been to get H E L L O for my couch???!!!
Although, in retrospect of my retrospect, I realize it would probably spell out OLELH, or HOLLE, or LLEOH, or anything but HELLO 99.99999999% of the time.
And that would drive me batty. So it’s probably good I stuck to kid initials, right?
Maybe you should get the HELLO? Yeah. Do that. So I can appreciate it from afar.

Okay…I just don’t think I’ve read a funnier or more engaging post about the opening of a store! Love this post and love Land of Nod. It’s my first visit here. I feel like I just talked to my sister. Following :)
What a funny post! I don’t know if you remember me, but we met at the LoN party. I was the one walking around with the 5D Mark II. I’m still working on editing the photos from that night. :)
