You know those people that you know in real life that are just really, really, honest to goodness, genuinely nice?
Like, nicest people ever?
Like, when you hang out with them you kinda think “Dude, you should totally not be friends with me. I’m not anywhere near your Nice Echelon. I feel like I’m tainting you.”
Enter my friend Becky. NICE. (Also, a good cook. Because of course she is.)
Years ago, when she told us that she had just bought a giant (as in takes up her whole garage) antique letterpress machine, I pretty much thought she was off her rocker. I mean, can’t you just order wedding invitations from Costco nowadays?
I am so dumb.
Because not long after, I gave birth to Henry and sweet Becky offered to print our baby announcements.
::swoon::
Costco?! I am a fool. These…these were works of art. As in, it pained me to mail them out.
Becky also offered to print announcements for the girls and Owen, but I happen to know that printing on a letterpress is painstaking, time consuming work. You send out a plate to be custom made (that can never be reused!), inks are hand mixed to get just the right color, and it’s all pressed one by one late at night after their girls are in bed.
It’s like the Guttenberg Press meets Pinterest.
And I really really really don’t like to put people out. Even when they offer. Because I’m kinda a people pleaser like that.
But it turns out that in addition to being nice, Becky is also a little pushy. But pushy in the nicest way possible. Obviously.
She’s been offering to print my bloggy business cards for…um, years? With Mom 2.0 coming up this week and my recently re-designed blog, I gave in.
Y’all. It’s too much.
I have no idea how I’m going to hand these out. The thought of someone shoving this in their purse or ::gasp:: throwing it away…makes me want to vomit.
All the relief in the paper…I die.
Becky had been wanting to try out adhering colorful scrapbook paper to the backs of the cards so I got to be her guinea pig.
So, see…? I was the one doing her a favor.
(The paper is a mix pack from Heather Bailey that all just happened to be the exact colors of my blog design. Score.)
See how thick that paper is?! I want to marry it.
And it turns out that the scrapbook paper I picked out also happens to have some embossing relief to it…so it’s all three dimensional and amazing on both sides.
Drooling yet?
I know, right? For more letterpress eye candy, check out her site…no really, go. You’ll be totally jealous and want to get married again just so you can re-do your invitations.
And follow her wedding inspiration blog too. I pretty much want to get married again with every blog post she does. To the same guy, just different…everything.
(Becky didn’t tell me to send you over there, or even to blog about my cards. She’s just a nice person with no ulterior motives, remember? But I want you to go over there and take a peek simply because it’s all to die for gorgeous and will make your day happier.)
Will I see you at Mom 2.0? How will I ever hand these out???!!! Ack.
Those are fabulous! The colors are so pretty.

Definitely swooning with you on those. I LOVE a sturdy paper. And I’m pretty sure there’s a “I like my paper like I like my men” joke in there somewhere. :)

Jeannett – I am with you on this one. Back in college, one of my professors mentioned Sugar Plum Invitations, so I took a look at the website. Needless to say, I had been wanting to work with Becky for years when I finally had the chance to. She’s so good. I want to print with her for EVERYTHING.
