Filling You In.

So…yeah.

Looks like the Gibson Five will soon be the Gibson Six.

It’s pretty exciting…albeit a bit scary.  I mean, I think four kids kinda slides you into that “wow, you have a LOT of kids territory”.  Like, you’re bordering on weird.  And trust me, the references to the Duggars have been made.  Which is ridiculous.  But whatevs.  If I could have a gigantic house with a fountain machine, I’d keep having kids too.  Okay, not really.  But a fountain machine would be the raddest ever.

Anyway, since I didn’t tell you a whole lot yet, I thought I’d fill ya in on some stuffs:

– I’m 15 weeks today.  Yes, I waited a while to tell you.  Actually, my family only found out about 24 hours earlier than that post.

– I feel fine…now.  The first 10 weeks were BRUTAL.  It was basically Lord of the Flies around here.  I just laid around praying that everyone was still alive at the end of the day.  When someone cried, I just thought “okay, just don’t be bleeding and please have all limbs attached…”  Now, I didn’t ever actually throw up, but seriously, I wish I could have.  The nausea would literally wake me from a dead sleep in the middle of the night and keep me up rocking myself.  Morning sickness.  I want to stab whoever named it that.  Try 24 hour a day sickness.  My house was a disaster, my kids had an obscene number of pajama days, and there was A LOT of TV on.  A lot of TV.  Nevermind that all five of us had stomach flu and Jill had a seizure in the middle of all of this.  I really don’t know how our species keeps procreating sometimes.

– Yes, we will find out the sex.  Yes, I will tell you.  No, I won’t tell you the name we picked out.  That’s a surprise until the baby is born.  Always.  (Much to the chagrin of family, but they’ll live.)  I think we find out in a couple of weeks.  I didn’t write down the appointment, so now I have to call them back.  Memory?  What memory?

– I look six months pregnant.  Not being dramatic.  It’s ridiculous.  But I suppose that when you’ve had twins, your body sort of goes into slouch mode immediately.  Lovely.

– We kinda joked about not telling anyone I was pregnant and just calling one day and saying “Hey!  Jeannett just had a baby today!”  We live 200+ miles from family and now that the holidays are over, we could easily stretch out visits if we wanted to.  I’m actually kinda bummed we didn’t.  I think it would be hilarious.

– We have this DVD someone gave me years ago called the Miracle of Life.  Henry was having a really hard time understanding how food didn’t get all over the baby when I ate, so I thought I would have him watch the DVD.  Except that I forgot the video first started with a very detailed explanation of the hows and whats of reproduction…so I was frantically fast forwarding through really awkward shots of male parts and tadpoles and such.  That being said, now that I can skip right to the baby part, he’s pretty obsessed with it.  Asks to watch it every day and usually three times in a row.  Kid is fascinated.  (Oh, and I also stop before the intense and very close and personal birthing scene.  He doesn’t need to learn about lady parts yet, ya know?)

– I’ll be having a c-section again.  Ideally I’d love a VBAC (actually, I’d love to have a baby in the car on the side of the freeway…not kidding), but honestly, I had really rough labors and after the disaster that was my twin delivery (labor for 26 hours and then a c/s)…it’s just not worth it.  I’m a medical disaster.  Anything that can go wrong, does.  Stuff that only happens to 1% of people happens to me 100% of the time.  Either way, it’s SUPER weird to look at a calendar and schedule when my baby will be born.  “Well, how about on a Friday?  That way we have the weekend right after and Andy has to take less time off?”  WEIRD.  Really weird.

– I’m terrified of getting PUPPPS again.  That was hands down the worst experience of my life.  I want to burst into tears just thinking about it.  You know something ain’t right when the thought of taking a vegetable peeler to your skin sounds downright heavenly.

– I think that’s all for now.

Got any other questions?

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Congratulations on the baby! And I’m so sorry that you’re pregnant! :) I have a 5 month old that was my fourth pregnancy and yikes! No fun at all. Ugg! And I had 4 c-sections, my first sounds like yours with your twins. And I know what you mean about NEVER wanting to go through that again. Just so you know, a planned c-section with no labor before it is WAY easier to recover from. Really, you’ll feel like a rock star compared to last time. :)

Wanna commiserate? Here’s my post from the end of my pregnancy. It’s really the Lows part that you’ll be interested it. :)

And really, congratulations again. I won’t tell you, “But it’s all worth it, huh?” because I know you’ll agree but still want to punch me. I’ll just say, “This too shall pass.” :)

oh….I had that too. with 2 of my pregnancies. the Lord was gracious and my last baby…I did not get that TERRIBLE rash. I can feel your pain. I will lift you up and hope that doesn’t happen with this pregnancy! I remember that they put me on a steroid cream for my rash…it did help. a little. Blessings.

I’m so excited for you. I know what you mean about the c-section. Both my boys were born via c-section and if we ever had anymore, it would be c-section. After my youngest son was born, my mom actually told my husband that we may want to quit having kids because something always seems to go wrong. Thank moms.

I had PUPPS with my first pregnancy and it was horrible. I feared it so bad during my second, but thankfully I didn’t get it. I’ll be praying for you and this pregnancy, including asking God to spare you from PUPPS. Much love. <3

Still so happy for you!! I really do envy mothers who can have more than one child. I mean, physically I could, but I know that I was meant to have only one.

I pray this pregnancy is smooth sailing from now on!!

First of all…CONGRATULATIONS! Second of all….I pulled the “sit down, I just had a baby” thing. It was hilarious, “oh, youre pregnant?”..”No, I just had a baby…she is beautiful and her name is Ashley.” Most of my friends and family said “give me a few minutes to proces…..ok…wow, congratulations..I think.” T

Congratulations!!! So glad that you’re feeling better. Its the worst to feel that awful and still have to take care of other people! Cant wait to see who will be joining your sweet family :) we never shared the name either with our families, made them crazy! But people are just too opinionated so we didn’t share, haha.

So very, very happy for you :-). I would love another but it just doesn’t seem to be in the cards. First trimester is the worst, isn’t. Here’s to a speedy (uneventfull) delivery and a very comfortable mommy and baby.

I’m only two weeks ahead of you, and yes, I only have a single this time. Surprisingly, I do NOT look six months pregnant, pretty much I just look like the other pregnancies, including the twin one – weird – I just have more twin skin to fill in – I know you know what I’m saying. We’re not finding out gender, though, fun! And we also do not tell names until birth. And I guess what type of delivery is up to this one (I also had a c-section with the twins, they were both breech – stinkers) – should be fun to follow along with you.

I never really comment but I had to when you mentioned the PUPPS. I had PUPPS with my pregnancy and actually remember coming to your blog and reading about since I remembered you had it. I was actually able to get my PUPPS to go away by washing with Pine Tar Soap 2-3 times a day. My doctor was shocked, as she had never seen PUPPS go away like that before. And I had it all over my trunk and back and it was heading for lower regions. There was talk of even inducing me early cause I was so miserable. So if, God forbid, you get PUPPS again, try Pine Tar Soap. Sounds crazy, I know!

  30. 31

oi! I had PUPPS with my first and it was the reason I ditched my natural birth plan and opted for an induction. praying you don’t get it again…my goodness I thought you could only get it once?!?!

  31. 32

I never had twins, but looked 6 months pregnant from… oh 3 months on…. every time. Which allowed for 6 wonderful months of “Well, you must be due any day now!” and “Are you having twins?” comments. I choose to believe my children simply got the delux suite, instead of a cramped single bed room.
4 kids is awesome! I’m very excited for you :)

Congratulations!! I am so excited for you. I agree with the ‘all day sickness’ as opposed to the ‘morning sickness.’ Mine lasted for about 3 months. Awesome sauce.

I agree with the hilarious part of waiting until the day you have the baby to let people know. Not really the side of the road part, though LOL

Oh my. I had pupps too. That is the most hilarious way to describe what I wanted to do to my skin. I only had it with my first. Congrats and i hope you don’t get it again.

  38. 39

CONGRATULATIONS LOVE!!! i am so thrilled for you! we always waited to share the name of our babies (all 3) until after the baby was born too. It’s so fun that way. My first labor sounds a little like your twins; 31 hours but did not end up with a C. I will pray you get to deliver this one on the side of the road… safely, heathily. it will make for quite a blog post, please tell Andy to take photos. xo
