Getaway

“What do you want for your birthday, Jeannett?”

“Honestly?  A break.  Just a chance to catch my breath.”

Lucky for us, we live just a few miles from the beach.

Saturday morning was foggy and a bit chilly.

But a good chilly.  The kind that clears your sinuses and lets you take extra deep breaths.

Armed with hot coffee and bare feet, we strolled along the waters’ edge during the early morning hours.

The night before we slept with the sliding glass door open so we could hear the waves crashing through the night.

Except that I kept waking up thinking the washing machine was running.

Seaweed littered the beach.

I purposely stepped on those little bulb things because they popped underfoot.

Nature’s very own bubble wrap.

We tiptoed around sand crabs.

And found this cool cave-ish thing.

I found the wrapping for a dozen roses and a champagne cork.

I like to think I found the remnants from a romantic marriage proposal.

::swoon::

Piers alternately intrigue and terrify me.

My hot date.

None too pleased to have a photo taken at 8 a.m., but it was my birthday so he had to.

See that bitty speck in the water?

That’s a sea otter.

Didn’t take any of my zoom lenses with me so you’ll just have to trust me on that.

The fog rolled away to reveal this view from our room.

I could live here.

Forever and ever.

Thanks hubs for a great time.  I lucked out.  And I still have no idea how that happened.
