InstaFriday

Another week of quirky everyday moments captured using nothing but a cell phone camera!

Other blog posts can be bothered with silly things like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO…but not Fridays!!!

I finally gave in to all the hype and bought a copy of The Help.

I haven’t gotten past chapter 3.

I don’t hate it, but I can’t seem to get into it either.

It’s been a really crazy and tough week around here…but it’s also been a preciously sweet week too.

The kids have been playing together so well this week.

All three of them.  Together.

See this picture…look at how tenderly Lu is holding onto Jill…and those sweet smiles.

I love my family.

So so so much.

It makes my heart hurt.

It’s probably not the safest seat in the Gaucho, but they were having a blast together.

And mom jogged (okay, power walked) alongside them.

Hearing their giggles as they race around the cul de sac?

Doesn’t get better than that my friends.

No sir.

Jill is getting so strong and stable pulling up on things and standing for long periods of time.

Which has made a tremendous difference in the relationships between the siblings.

In this case, the family that wrenches together, stays together.

Henry was talking to her about spark plugs and assorted engine stuffs.

Remember these suncatcher things from when you were a kid?

I thought they’d be a fun Mommy and Henry craft.

But dude…they’re HARD!

Those tiny beads are squirrely little things!

Mental note: Trust the manufacturers when they say it’s for ages 6 and up.

My girls have THE greatest bed head.

Jill’s long, wispy, pin straight hair is always a windblown disaster after a nap.

Lucy’s thick curls always form a crazy crown around her head.

Oh, and there’s the gigantic cut on her forehead too.

You know, from when she faceplanted into the front of Henry’s Gaucho.

(She was running to get in it with him and tripped on her way over…with her forehead meeting the grill of the truck quite nicely.)

This girl.

Sigh.

We went to the beach.

For the first time.

Since the girls were born.

They’re TWO.

We live 15 minutes away.

But do you see this???!!!

Sand.

PB&J.

Panic.  Horrors.  Anxiety.

Makes. my. skin. crawl.

We’re puppy sitting for a few days.

Henry and Macy were fast friends.

It almost makes me want a puppy.

Oh wait.  No.

I have two full grown Golden Retrievers already.

We’re good.

But she is awfully cute.

And this.

This bag was FULL.

Actually, that’s not true…there were three missing.

And suddenly I realized Lucy was quiet…too quiet.

I found her sitting on the floor finishing up.

Not only was the bag EMPTY…but there weren’t so much as wrappers to be found.

Her diapers will be…interesting in the coming days.

I wish I was kidding.

* * * *

And with that…it’s YOUR turn!

Grab a button, link up and don’t forget to leave comment love on at least two other linker-uppers!

Happy Friday friends!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

    Carrie R. says:

Target has The Help on sale for $10 this week and my husband bought it for me. I actually just finished chapter 2 last night. I’m interested in seeing where it goes. I’m still on the fence about it.
We live about an hr from the beach and we’ve only been once since my OLDEST was born. It was acutally for his first birthday. Yeah, he’s 4 now and my youngest has never been, he’s 2. :o(

omgsh. this post has me cracking up.

i was the same way with the help.
it took me maybe 5 or 6 to get going….and then a few more after that.
but once i was in, i was hooked. and could NOT stop thinking about it.
even when I was DONE with the book.

the pic of henry and macy is too sweet.
seriously, if that was me at his age, i know it would be the happiest day of my life.

sand in PB&J – um, heebeejeebees for sure.

and the reeses. i don’t think i even have words. – cracking me up. :)

I just found your blog this week through The Pleated Poppy and Happy Days and I LOVE it! You have an amazing story. And your kids are adorable. Thanks for sharing with the world – glad to be here! (and The Help does get better. It is kind of slow in the beginning.)

I can’t do the sand and sandwiches either…. looks like a wonderful week with the kids getting along so well!

  8. 8

All I can say is “oh my!” about the candy! You always know when they are up to something because it gets way too quiet! Looks like you guys had a very full week!

I laughed until I fell out of the chair. Seriously. Your telling of the wrapper story – so, so funny. Sadly I can totally relate, which is probably why I fell out of the chair laughing.

Oh the wrappers… I am so sorry.

I love the beach. I do not love all the creepy crawlers that dive bomb blankets & decide to join whatever party is going on at the blanket. I also do not love sand in food… yuck! Hopefully they didn’t notice?

Oh my gosh, that is so funny! I laughed so hard when I read about the chocolate. Thank you for that pick-me-up!

  12. 12

I really hope you find the wrappers under the couch.

  13. 13

Keep going with The Help – it took me a little bit to get into it too….but once I did, I loved it!

  14. 14

I was basically going to say what she ^^ said about “The Help.” It was a slow start for me, too. But, it gets really good. I’ve read it twice now – and the second time, I couldn’t put it down. Keep going!

  15. 15

Everyone has basically said it already, but if you can make it to around page 100, you’ll be hooked after that!

  16. 16

Love it when the kids play so well together!! And the bed head cracks me up!! My littlest gets the worst bedhead lol and I understand not making it to the beach- it does seem like a whole lot of trouble at times tho I love the beach so idk- but I say this bec I’m nowhere near one… we always want what we don’t gave right? Thank you for such a fun forum for sharing! I love the idea, and just did my first InstaFriday post! (http://www.smittenbykris10.com/blog/?p=781) …I look forward to hearing if you finish The Help. I’m leaning towards just watching the movie, I hear it is just as good if not better than the book. Oh, but I just don’t know, that usually isn’t the case… Cheers!
