A few weeks ago, the ever lovely Lisa Jo contacted me asking if I would be willing to help spread the word about a Christmas Card program (in)courage and Dayspring are working on.
Um…of course!
You see, one of the posts that I have been soooo moved by has been a post by Lisa Jo from her recent trip to Guatemala with Compassion. I’ve actually been meaning to share it with you on a Post Happy someday.
I sponsor little Robensen in Haiti.
I’m HORRIBLE with letter writing.
I don’t do it often enough.
And when I do, it’s not exactly the most heartfelt thing. Just being honest.
But LisaJo found that those letters mean something.
They mean a lot.
I’ll quit talking now and let you read all about it because LJ can string words together waaaaayyyy better than I ever could.
With Thanksgiving and the Christmas season upon us, take a few minutes this weekend and do something good.
You will NEVER go wrong.
Oh, yes. Compassion trip to Guatemala. Did I ever tell you about my trip? I was born in Guatemala and hadn’t been back since I was adopted as a baby. Finally, a few years ago I took the opportunity to go on a Compassion trip – 1) to meet my sponsored child and 2) to see my birthplace. I started crying when we first landed in Guatemala City. Even though it was nighttime, I saw the lights and it hit me that I was back in the land of my birth. The trip was amazing. My child is no longer in the program (don’t know why), but I’m thinking of adopting another Guatemalan when my now sponsored daughter is done with the program. Maybe sooner. I thought I blogged about it, but just saw that I started blogging AFTER I had done the trip a few years before that. Anyway, this is a great idea. I’ll try and do the card soon. Just wanted to comment.
