“Hey babe…you need to go buy a bunch of turkeys today.”
“Um….we’re not hosting Thanksgiving this year?”
“I know, but this article in the paper says that the local food bank has only gotten 27 turkeys...of the 3,000 they need this season.”
“Mommy, why do we have all those turkeys in your car?”
“You know how when you go to the store to buy something, you have to give the lady money before you can take it home?”
“yeah.”
“Well, some people don’t have enough money to buy a turkey for Thanksgiving, so mommy and daddy are buying some to give to them. Because God gave our family enough money to buy things, and God doesn’t want us to keep all the money for ourselves. He wants us to share our things.”
“Like I share my toys with the sisters?”
“Exactly like that. And so mommy and daddy want to help others have a turkey to eat on Thanksgiving.”
“Awwww Mommy….that’s so nice! God is going to be so happy!”
I hope so…I really hope so son.
