A few nights ago, I ran by the grocery store for a few things.
I had just been out for a girls’ night with some friends, so I was…oh, you know…actually dressed in something other than yoga pants and a ribbed tank.
Don’t judge.
So, the girl in line behind me says “Is that from The Pleated Poppy???!!!”
Referring, of course, to the cute pins I had on.
I blushed a bit.
“Yeah, they are.”
“And is that a Lisa Leonard necklace?”
“Yeah…do you read blogs?”
We chatted for a few minutes in line. Apparently she’s also been to THIS little blog of mine too.
It turns out that she used to go to my church and that’s kinda how she came across our blogs, but still…
It was weird.
I wanted to run home and DELETE the whole thing.
I don’t know…it just threw me off.
Like…wow…I forget…there are people out there who actually READ this stuff.
I’m not just typing into a vaccuum.
And other people read other people’s blogs too.
And I was reminded that while I, myself, suck…I run in circles with blogging celebrities.
In case you weren’t sure, there are total blog celebrities.
Fo sho.
It’s crazy.
CrAzy.
It’s like this little underworld sub-culture…and within it, there are bloggers whose names will send a suburban housewife into a tither.
So, since I’m utterly lame on my own merit, I’ll up my cool quotient by about 200 by telling you that:
-I am friends in real life with Lindsey of The Pleated Poppy. We talk just about every day. And she really is super cute even when she is wearing no make up and has her hair in pig tails. I might secretly hate her.
-I am friends in real life with Lisa of Lisa Leonard Designs. We don’t talk often enough but I love her because even if we go months without talking, I know that I can call her and it’s like no time went by at all. She really is as amazing as she “reads”. Truly.
–Julie and I text every. single. day. Constantly. Thank you AT&T for unlimited texting plans. She makes me laugh. every. single. day.
–Mique of 30 Days fame is fabulous. I think it’s safe to say we are friends. Right?
-Every once in a blue moon Kelle and I will email back and forth. She’s a crack up. I so wish she didn’t live on the other side of the COUNTRY because I am convinced we would stay up all night laughing until we cried. However, we would not, under any circumstances, go swimming or do anything that would otherwise have us in bathing suits because I would be a sad sight next to her. Despise girls like that. Ugh.
Next on my list of bloggers to con into being friends with me is The Pioneer Woman.
Anyone know her in real life?
Hook me up.
Because I have no coolness in me. I have to hang out with awesomeness and try to waft it over into my general direction.
Speaking of awesome…you know what would be SUPER awesome???
If we raised enough money to provide even ONE person a wheelchair!
Can you help? Even just a tiny bit? Pretty please with a cherry on top?
Perfect. Thanks. I knew you’d do it! :)
haha isnt that SO weird?!? i get recognized at races sometimes or emails later saying they saw me but didnt want to say hi.
aron´s last blog post ..marathon training- all about the schedule
Wow. Thank you so much for providing the link to Kelle’s blog. I have only read a couple of her most recent postings, but I plan to go back and read more as soon as I have a chance. The description (and the incredible photos!) of her daughter’s birth story was absolutely one of the most emotional things I have read in a long time. I have always had an interest in Down Syndrome & I definitely plan to keep up with her blog in the future.
Hahaha, that is an awesome post. I met one of my bffs through blog-stalking (we all do it, yo) and now I’m staying w/her for 6 weeks this summer watching her boys while she and her hubby do their wedding photography thang. When people as how we met we just laugh. I prefer to think of it as the modern day pen pal as opposed to being a blog-stalker. Because I like to rationalize away potentially awkward situations.
Btw, if you do happen to become friends (by con or otherwise) with the lovely and luscious Pdub, I might have to be chartreuse with envy. Like, seriously times 49. I’ve been reading her blog WAAAAAAY before she was ever famous!! Just like I did the whole reusable bag thing before it was hot. Not that bags and Pdub are the same thing…but you get my drift.
P.S. I was secretly weirded out when I first realized I might actually meet you in real life because A) we go to the same church and B) you’re friends w/Tracy et al. And by weirded out, I mean in a “worlds colliding Seinfeld episode” kind of way. But its all cool now.
P.P.S. Please excuse the freakishly long comment. I ate too many dark chocolate pretzel slims from TJ’s today. Now I’m gonna go do my 30-day shred w/Jillian AGAIN to make up for it. Not that it will do any good to rectify my commenting issue.
P.P.P.S. Ok, I’m seriously going now.
1st off, you don’t suck. but you are a dork! you are so silly to see yourself this way – i am so stoked to have you as a friend! thank you for the sweet shout out and for always supporting me and my business. love you!
lindsey – the pleated poppy´s last blog post ..uninvited guests
I feel cool just knowing you, Jeannett. And I miss Lisa and Lindsey. But am glad there are blogs to keep up with and things to buy and to donate to…will start doing all that when I get my first paycheck. Well, I’ll have to be a good steward (better than I was), but I do have plans to enjoy myself. love and hugs to you and your family

Now I’ve met the famous Jeannett who wears all the cool stuff that I drool over on all the blogs that I like to frequent. :)
Really, it was nice meeting you at the grocery store. Sorry for freaking you out. I get a little weirded out too when I see that random people I’ve never met are following my blog. Cool blog, by the way. I’ll have to start officially following your blog. :)
um, jeannett, if i met you, i’d feel like i was meeting a blog celebrity :) actually, if i met lucy, it’d *really* be like meeting a celerity — she’s a hoot!
Grace´s last blog post ..loved
um, you’re awesome. i met you once, but i remember it every time i see my pleated poppy pin you passed out at BLOGSUGAR. and i remember how witty you were. wit equals brilliance in my “book”. though my “book” isn’t published, or even spoken about in public… it’s a big deal.
