Cinnamon Toast

I know this is random, but for some reason I’ve been thinking about cinnamon toast a lot lately.

Which, by the way, I don’t even like.

I’m really not a breakfast person.

In fact, unless I’m pregnant or nursing, I skip breakfast altogether.

(um, have you realized I’ve been either been preggers or a milk machine for the last FOUR YEARS of my life???!!!)

And if we go out for breakfast somewhere, I usually ask if the cook can make me something off the lunch menu.

The sticky ooey gooey sweet thing is just too much for me in the morning.

Anyway, it occurred to me the other day that I have never made cinnamon toast for Henry.

Which I do believe may be written in the Mom Handbook as a childhood rite of passage.

“Every child shall be treated to warm cinnamon toast as a special breakfast treat from time to time.”

In fact, I do believe that it goes on to say:

“Mothers who do not make their child cinnamon toast as a special treat are destined to the Mommy Hall of Shame.”

Or something like that.

So I keep telling myself I shouldn’t penalize my family for my own dislike of breakfast.

And then this morning The Pioneer Woman did an *entire post* on cinammon toast.

And it was as if the Breakfast Gods were looking down on me with disapproval.

So, before anyone got up this morning, I whipped up some Pioneer Woman Cinnamon Toast Butter and popped some in the oven.

There, I did it.

I have skirted the Hall of Shame.

For now.

Crisis averted.

Henry was happy.

Mommy is happy.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Phew! I am glad I have skirted the Mommy Hall of Shame…that is if giving your 11 month old cinnamon toast doesn’t put me there in the first place. (It was given to her for the first time at 9 months.) :0) Great post. Cute pictures. As always.

My kids only get cinnamon toast when we have left over hot dog buns from the night before – a dietary double whammy. Your right, the kids need a little treat every once in awhile and toast is waaaaaayyy easier than cinnamon rolls :)

Oh no … my 2 1/2 year old has never had cinnamon toast – I better get on that. And the pregnant/nursing thing I can relate – except for 3 months in 2008 I have been pregnant or nursing since December 2006!!!

Well crap, who knew I’d been doing it WRONG all these years?? And I must be in the hall of shame too, cause I’ve never made it for my kid either. I’ll get on that pronto…or maybe next week.
