Barefoot

We are a family of barefeet. When we are home, we don’t wear shoes. Not because I’m worried about the carpet…because if you’ve seen my carpet you know that’s certainly not the case! But it’s just more comfortable. Even walking around outside, in the garage, whatever, we don’t really have shoes on. We can all walk comfortably on the gravel, on asphalt, concrete.

And when we DO wear shoes (outside of work), about 99% of the time, it’s flip flops (even when it’s raining).

Even Henry is getting in on the flip flop game! He LOVES them! If one falls off, he comes running for me to put it back on. Oh, and no, there’s no hidden granola agenda here. I don’t really buy the whole selling point for Robeez. (In fact, I think they are about the ugliest shoes in the world! Yuck!) It’s just a comfort thing.

I’ve never understood people who wear shoes all the time. Even when watching TV. It just looks sooo sooo sooo awkward. It makes me uncomfortable just LOOKING at them! (Like when you see people wearing sweaters in 100 degree weather). In fact, at one point, Christine finally asked me to bring a pair of shoes to keep at daycare, because I always just took him barefoot! She was worried that he could scrape his little toes up…so, for those of you concerned, he wears shoes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays! :)
You would think from these photos that we don’t wear pants very often either. However, I assure you that is not the case. It was just coincidental that I had been too lazy to put Henry’s pants back on after that last diaper change…and even lazier to run back upstairs for his pants before the photo op!
Anyone else a flip flop/barefoot family? Or do you wear shoes all the time? Why? Really, I’m curious!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Shoes come off as soon as I’m home, but in the winter I do wear slippers. I hate cold feet! Hen looks really cute. And I voted on Tuesday too. I agree about feeling part of something bigger. Love you all.

Barefeet/slippers for me–depending on the weather! Hated putting shoes on this week when it rained! Got blisters!!

Heck yeah we’re a barefoot family! I too have never really gotten the whole “wearing shoes inside the house” thing. I used to always wear flipflops too. But now with the weather getting colder, I guess I’ll have to wear other shoes. :(

Your robeez comment made me laugh. And reminded me of Joy saying the same thing one time I think! (Joy correct me if I’m wrong!) Do you feel the same about Crocs???

I think adult Crocs are ridiculous. But for some reason, Crocs on kids are kinda cute. The smaller the cuter. (Henry had a pair of size 1 camo frocs…fake crocs…that were DARLING!)

oh girl, I’m so with you – hubby is a sock wearer, but I kick off my shoes first thing and have a pair of flip flops permanently by the front door.
By the way – I got your email from Aron, I’ve got some questions to pick your brain about :)

i so hate shoes and socks are just as bad. i wear flip flops about 99.9% of the time. dillon doesn’t have them but only because i couldn’t find any to fit his feet :)

yay sandals! and I kick off whatever shoes I am wearing as soon as I get in the door. Even at work, while I am sitting at my desk I will kick off my shoes under the desk and then go around the office barefooted… I would wear my Rainbows to work, but it’s not in the dress code… I used to tell people my toes were claustriphobic and that was why I didn’t hardly ever wear close toed shoes… ^_^

wow, brianna, you have a good memory. i do have this thing against robeez. and i agree with you, jeannett, that adult crocs? no, but little kid ones are cute. we are definitely a flip-flop family. in fact, i think cade has what he considers to be his “dress” flip-flops. isn’t that kind of a contradiction in terms? and i am usually barefoot in the house, which is bad for my feet! i really should be wearing shoes with my old-lady inserts in them. but…

barefoot or socked footed, but not shoes. although, we put shoes on for cooking sometimes because the kitchen floor is so hard it makes our feet ache.

oh, and not into robeez or crocs.
