Had Henry’s doctor appointment yesterday. Dr. Bravo was very impressed and suprised to see how much Henry eats and the quality and variety. He said that he had intended on sending me to see a nutritionist, but that they wouldn’t know what to do with me because “what this kid eats and how much is right out of a textbook!” So, that was nice. I work really hard on his diet, so it was nice to see my work pay off.
We had (lots) of blood drawn to run (lots) of different tests. They all came back today…totally normal. The only one we’re waiting on is Cystic Fibrosis, which is really just a formality, but we might as well check since we’re drawing blood anyway. I can try giving Henry goat’s milk. He might not drink it, but it might be cheaper than the hypo-allergenic formula that I should be giving him for the next year or until he can tolerate cow’s milk.
Dr. Bravo said he has spent a lot of time “talking to the Boss about little Henry” (i.e. praying), and that he really just thinks that he’s a little guy. Now that the tests all came back normal, he’s really leaning towards Hen being small. As for his heart, he’s really weary of pushing it before the cardiologist is ready to do it. He says that we’ll just hang on for now and see how things go.
For reference, Henry weighed 17 lb. 4 oz. and was 28.5 inches tall. That was about 10% height and below 5% on weight.
I feel a lot better knowing that he’s healthy, and so far, we aren’t seeing any medical issue behind his size. I’ll feel much better after surgery (for lots of reasons), but for now, this is great news!
i’m happy to hear that all the test came back normal. what a relief that must be for you. praise god!
what a relief to hear the tests came back normal.
It’s okay if Henry is a munchkin, Ronin is too!! In fact, Ronin is so skinny that he can fit into some of the 0-3 shorts!! Just in time for summer. :-)
very good news! (and great doctor!)
