Lance Update

All of this makes my sadness about going back to work seem so petty…I probably needed a good perspective check.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that Lance’s story will be on the 11:00 KSBY News tonight and tomorrow’s daybreak (Wednesday, 6:00 or 6:30?). It will also appear in the Tribune tomorrow.
Also, people have been asking about the details of the accident. Charlie Troop had been out on a TST mission Sunday night and into Monday morning. They had just survived a huge gunbattle with insurgents. They had also arrested three bad guys and had them in the truck with them. The 5-ton truck is a huge truck that carries all the guys in the platoon in the back. It has armour all around it and then just a canvas cover on top. They had one more stretch of highway to go before arriving on base. It is the Vernon overpass that is notorious for having IEDs. They were driving fast to avoid them when they suddenly came upon something in the middle of the road. The driver swerved to avoid it, thinking it may be an IED and may have hit a barrier or something else that caused him to lose control. The truck veered to the left and flew over the overpass landing 50 feet below upside down in a ravine. Seven soldiers and two of the insurgents were immediately killed. Lance was unconscious and pulled from the wreckage. He became conscious at that point. The remaining eleven soldiers were all critically injured and flown to Germany.
Lance was one of the last two soldiers to leave today for Germany after his two surgeries. Hope that clears things up for everyone.
Thanks for all the support and prayers!
Dori

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.
