Holy smokes, friends.
It has been a WEEK.
While the last few months, I’ve been neglecting my blog, it’s been mostly because I just couldn’t find the right balance to make it all happen.
I’m happy to report that I’m finally finding my mojo again and the insomnia is mostly at bay, and thusly (the red squiggly line tells me that’s not a word…but it sounds good so I’m keeping it)…THUSLY, I’m also settling back into my normal routine of waking up early so that I can do the blogging stuffs I love, while the littles are still asleep. (Except Jill. She’s up and perusing books by 6.)
This week, my lack of blogging has been because I’ve been a chicken with my head cut off on other social media: mainly Instagram and Facebook.
All for one little blonde (who, incidentally is begging me to let her paint…at 6:06 am. Ummmmm, that’s a solid NO.).
In case you missed all the hullabaloo on Instagram, I hosted an auction as a fundraiser for #teamjilly.
GENEROUS shops donated 41 products (of the most darling kind), and dear, sweet, generous people bid their hearts out…in most cases exceeding the retail value of the product!
It was a TON of work on my end. My thumbs hurt. No really. I had to input all of the listings on my phone.
But worth it. $1,558. BOOM.
While you’re emailing and photo snapping and describing and tagging, there’s really no better time than to arbitrarily decide that RIGHT THIS SECOND is the moment you need to repaint your front door.
There wasn’t anything really WRONG with the dark green. It’s just that the pale blue is SO MUCH RIGHT.
I still have to go through and touch up a few spots and yes, I see the paint I got on the black doohickey at the bottom. GET OFF MY BACK.
And my door mat needs a fresh coat too.
If you give Jeannett a paintbrush…
(Whythe Blue by Benjamin Moore, FYI.)
Soooooo…can someone please explain to me how on EARTH my seven year old looks like a friggin’ teenager???!!!!
This kid slays me.
He drives me batty (especially when it’s schoolwork time…FOCUS!!!!)…but a sweeter, kinder, bigger hearted kid the world has never known.
Swear it.
Also, I have to start making sure his buddies are ugly. Because two younger sisters. Ahem.
Oh hey.
You know what else I did this week?
Went to the ER.
Because #naughtyporkchop.
The short story is that he hopped up on a barstool (usual) and grabbed hold a big ol’ butcher knife. Andy was literally standing right there doing dishes (I know, right?!) and when he told Owen to let go, the boy decided to let go by sliding his hand off…and THUSLY slicing right through his little sausage finger.
When I took a look at it and saw things that are Inside Parts, I took him to the ER.
Luckily he was able to just get glued back together, but mostly on account of him being so young and how fast littles heal. But apparently, had that same cut been on an adult, he would have needed a few stitches.
I’m just glad we met our deductible a while ago.
As an aside, he’s SUPER proud of his ouchie and shows it off to anyone and everyone who will give him the time of day.
Which is basically anyone and everyone. Because those eyes. Because that face.
Gah.
And I’m crying.
BECAUSE HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS.
We have visited this pumpkin patch for years. And she’s always had to be carried around or pushed in the wagon.
And instead this.
And I’m not sure I’ll ever ever ever get used to seeing it.
Ever.
Annnnnnddddddd FINAL CALL!!!!!
There are only THREE DAYS LEFT to order your #teamjilly gear!!!!
