InstaFriday

You guys.

It has been…REAL.

I’m so tired.  But good tired.  All Good Things.

But still.

Sorry for the radio silence around here (because I’m sure you’ve all been slowly withering away), but we just barely got internet access to the house.  Turns out, the previous owners never had cable or internet.  Ever.  And it’s not like they were 90.  They had 4 kids, from 7-15 years old.  We’re really strict about computer access with our kids, but it seems like internet is kinda a necessity for high schoolers now for homework, right?  I don’t know.  It was just shocking to this blogger and self-employed household.  Internet is what helps put food on the table around here.  Okay, who am I kidding?  Andy’s internet access helps put food on the table.  My internet access helps put cute decor on our walls.

Both necessities.  Depending on who you ask.

Here’s a pictorial of what we’ve been up to. (I’m jeannettg on insta if you want to follow.)

This move has been sorta hectic.

Andy was traveling a lot during the escrow/packing process.  Kids were finishing up school, IEPs were being scheduled, annual therapy reviews were being performed.  So I almost didn’t have too much time to think about the fact that we were actually moving OUT OF A HOME.  Plus, I was mostly excited about the new place.  And forever stuffing boxes.

It didn’t really hit me until I saw the little bitty handprint Henry pressed into the new patio concrete we poured soon after moving into the house.

That house welcomed 3 out of 4 squishy babies and Henry was only 8 months old when we bought it.

That house held memories of all kinds and was stuffed chock full of stories.  I will miss it.

And while I have nothing bad to say about the old house (it was a rad house), the truth is that this one is just so much a better fit for our family that it’s kinda hard to compete with.

We went from knowing almost no one in the town we lived in to being literally surrounded by good friends.  Surrounded.  Walking distance.  (Okay, not for me.  I’ll drive.  But for other, healthier type folks who exercise and such.)

The day we moved in, we were welcomed by fun flamingo signs.  Friends brought cupcakes.  Others brought pizza.  Others unpacked the kitchen.  All without calling ahead.  All without notice.  Just stopping by.

The way it should be.

And this house?

It’s one story.

This girl was able, for the first time in her life, walk from her bedroom to the kitchen for breakfast.

She didn’t have to sit at the top of the stairs and call for me to come and pick her up and carry her down.

The immensity of this is almost more than my heart can bear.

Moving trucks pulled out of the new driveway at 5:00 pm.

We pulled out by 9:30 am the very next morning, the house a mess of boxes, to drive 5 hours for a wedding.

Hectic.  But good.

Good because this much too big boy was in the wedding.

And since it was a no-kid wedding, we left the others at my mom’s house.  We got some one on one time with the biggest.

And it was so nice.

The couple got married in a teeny old church.

With a white steeple and a 1,000 pound bell.  That he got to ring.

Someone on insta said this was a Normal Rockwell painting.

I totally agree. IMG_8572

He asked me to take selfies.

Who could say no?

And because we have nothing else at all going on, we got two kittens.  For gopher control.  Or that’s the idea anyway.

The Porkchop calls them “itties”.

Which is basically the best thing ever.

They live in a bathroom right now.  Mostly because they’re coyote bait at this point.  Soon they’ll be outdoor cats.  And might still be coyote bait.  Circle of life itties.  Lo siento.

We homeschool.  Teaching moments built right in I tell ya.

Oh, and they are Olaf and Elsa.

Because of course they are.

HAPPY FOURTH FRIENDS!!!!

Enjoy your weekend with family and friends and link up below!!!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

I love it all. Walking to the kitchen without momma…makes me want to cry. Congrats on the move and the itties. We just got one too and she has completely taken over. Please, please, please post something on kitty litter tricks if you have them. :-)
    Happy 4th.
