So I’m sitting here this morning, scrolling Facebook, and about to open up Pinterest when…
It’s FRIDAY!
I for real thought it was Thursday.
This week (month/year) has been crazy and weird and surreal.
Good things and bad things.
But it’s got my days all jumbled and I cannot believe it’s May.
I’m glad for Instagram. Because it reminds me of the fun and beauty in what I would have described to you as a boring/hectic/nothing interesting week. Which would be a total lie.

(I’m jeannettg on IG if you want to follow)
Henry’s skate competitions continue, but this Saturday, after all the ruckus of Jill’s seizure, the cancellation of my trip, and the fact that Andy was leaving the next morning, we just couldn’t summon the wherewithal to drive an hour to a skate park.
Luckily, Mr. Dan was willing to haul the boy along with his own boys and his nephews.
6 boys after a skate competition? That van in RIPE.
I cannot even imagine.
And then my phone dings again a few hours later with this.
It appears that my precious snowflake is throwing gang signs of some sort, but the red/white/blue plaid shorts keep him safe. No self respecting cholo would sport those.
Phew. Close call.
Also, you better believe he had the best day ever. This is boy heaven. Especially because he knows he’d have gotten the side eye for this shirtless debauchery.
It’s been a warm one.
Already.
Since my mom came into town to keep me company while Andy went to Nashville (without me…sniff), I decided a beach day was in order.
I hate sand. A lot. But this might be worth it. Sisters playing side by side. Together. And in the same way.
Maybe sand isn’t so bad.
I mean, it totally IS, but maybe I can deal.
Yup.
I think I can deal.
Now that my kids are getting older, it’s easier.
I wore Jilly in the Ergo to get down to the water and Lu held the Porkchop’s hand. Henry dragged the bag of beach toys.
Hmmmm…maybe we can do this.
And so my mom and I are sitting on the couch chatting and all of sudden, unceremoniously, this one hauls his lawnmower up.
Because babies and lawnmowers are so totally supposed to go on top of coffee tables.
It’s all the rage.
You should pin that.
Forget succulent centerpieces and roses arranged ROY G BIV. Porkchops and pink lawnmowers.
Also, I need to touch up the paint on my table. Oy.
And because I”m feeling angsty and cynical, (not really, but Holden Caufield does that to me), I’m re-reading this.
For maybe the fifth time.
(Fun fact: I really love the name Holden. And really considered it for my boys. But Andy wasn’t game. Which seems really unfortunate now that I’m done. Boo.)
What’d you do this week?

I love those beach pictures. Especially of the girls playing in the water in the same way. So precious. You can do it!!! xo
Fun Fact: My Holden is 6 years old today! And I’ve never read the book.
Love your family! And your pictures!
Your kids are precious as always! And I LOVE the way your coffee table has aged. Distressed paint is the new succulents and with four kids, isn’t all common room furniture “distressed”?
Yah but your hubs did sign up for the nick name, naughty porkchop, so… ;0)
Love the kids in the water. What a blessing to be so close to the beach although I hear you on the sand (Ferndale is coming up. Beach 5 minutes away. Sand in my car. Shudder!)
Happy Mother’s Day, sweet lady!

The photo of your little porkchop in the water is almost as adorable as the one of Jill and Lucy playing together. Sand is rough, I agree. But I try to think of walking in it as a free pedicure just without the nice lotions and polish and water. Water is good fun and almost makes up for the sand that ends up every, every, everywhere.
