Well, hello there friends!
It’s Friday!!!!!
This is where we share the stories behind the grainy pictures and remember that it really IS the little things.
Join me!
(I’m jeannettg on insta)
My little succulents are coming along quite nicely in their Pottery Barn wall hanging turned outdoor planter.
They’re kinda my favorite right now.
She begged to sit at the piano after church.
And then placed her little fingers just so on the keys.
And it got me thinking…I wonder if she might be able to learn piano? Maybe she can express herself through music? At 4.5, it’s probably a little early…but maybe in a couple years? Hmmmmmmm….
Henry’s skate competition begins this weekend.
It’s actually sorta expensive between the entry fees at each of the 7 events and the practices/being on the team, and while we don’t mind providing the opportunity, Andy was really uncomfortable just letting him do it without having some sense of it being a privilege.
Our system is simple: every week he has to do 10 extra tasks, above and beyond his normal chores. Andy and I just sort of think of things as we go, but if he hasn’t done all 10 by Saturday morning, he can’t compete. And the tasks have to be kinda big. Not a quick little thing. Andy made him clean all of the insides of the windows in my Yukon XL. That’s a lot of windows folks.
My kids have been big into cuddling with the dogs lately.
Clearly Owen called Little Spoon on Ryley.
Brass unicorns on Instagram.
No reason other than I’m pretty sure this is why insta was invented.
We keep chugging along at homeschool.
I think we’re both ready for it to be summer.
An event at the skate park last week sponsored by a Christian skate company included skate time with their pro team, worship, a short devotional, and prayer.
Best.
They were quiet. And together. Playing. Quietly. With each other. Together.
This HAD to be captured. It may never happen again.
Lots of you asked about my Lego storage system.
The Lego storage bins I’ve seen around are REALLY cool, but really expensive.
I found these scrapbook supply bins at the local craft store for less than $5/each on sale and realized they fit perfectly in a plastic hanging file crate from Walmart I happened to already have.
Less than $20. Shop back to school sales and the clearance afterwards and you can probably score all of this even cheaper. You’re welcome.
It’s been a while since I’ve hosted a series in this space.
Monday will begin a two week series with 8 bloggers sharing their journey with depression. Depression is such a delicate subject, but my hope is that if you struggle with it, you find solace in their words. And if you don’t, that you can learn from their experiences and be the friend to come alongside someone you love.
We’re all in this together.
It will be good. It will be hard. But it will be good.
Your turn! What did you capture this week?
The picture you snapped of Owen and Ryley melts my heart. I love it! It looks like your daughter could be a natural at the piano. Have a lovely weekend!!!

Is it appropriate to say I’m excited for the depression series? Who cares, I love your series. Also, I would see if there is some sweet church lady who could recommend a way for her to start playing. Sure its early, but if she’s a music girl, let her make that connection!

The spooning picture needs to go in a Senior year slideshow, it is the perfect encapsulation of this stage of life!

I saw your naughtyporkchop :-) (love that HT BTW) and dog picture on IG… and my oh my I wanted to triple like it, so sweet. We are ready for summer too… these last few months of homeschool drag by.
It is never too early for piano lesson! My grandmother was my first teacher at 3 years old and taught me by matching stickers placed on the keys with stickers on a sheet of construction paper. The home videos of these “lessons” are my favorite. She set it up as a game, there was no homework or mandatory practice charts. I was years away from playing anything that would resemble a song, but I credit her completely for my love of music.
I love Owen with the dog. That is priceless! I’m looking forward to your blogging next week. I suffer from depression and I’m interested in reading what others have to say and do. Love your blog!!!!!!
I’m glad you are doing a series on depression. It’s such a common thing, yet so misunderstood — especially in the church. When I wrote my post about taking meds, I got so many people who thanked me for talking about it. So I anticipate that this series, with the numbers of readers you have, will do so much more good. Yay for good.

Thank you for the Lego idea! I am on vacay now, but can’t wait to start looking for sales when we get home! Lego organization is an on going thing at our house. Your ideas should take care of some of our collection!
What a lovely picture of your daughter at the piano. A bit to young for formal lessons but a simple keyboard at home may spark her muscial talents.
I am a piano teacher and 4.5 is not too young for lessons!! If she is interested she might LOVE it!
