Instagram is my favoritest of all favorites because I can capture the sweetest of moments amid the chaos.
Don’t be fooled, however, because there are plenty of filtered photos that look so charming but there is some sibling squabble or angsty baby bawling in the background.
But you know that.
Because that’s real life. For everyone. Even bloggers with the prettiest of pictures. (Not me. But you know.)
But for this mama’s heart, I love seeing the best moments captured…because in the daily of Daily Life, it can be hard to remember that it’s not all yelling and crying and picking up Legos.
(I’m jeannettg on instagram if you want to follow there too!)
Linky party rules have changed a bit. Take a peek. You might like it.
Okay, so maybe this photo isn’t really “sweet”, but it full on cracks me up.
I went to Costco…needing a HUGE trip…we were down to pretty much beer and whipped cream. And I think a tub of margarine. Basically, my fridge looked like a frat boy’s fridge. Which, while amusing, didn’t do much for the kids that weren’t falling for dry cereal as a “snack” anymore.
EXCEPT, that upon getting to the parking lot, I remembered that my trunk space was FULL.
- 2 skateboards
- 1 scooter
- 2 helmets
- Jill’s walker
- 2 picnic blankets
- 1 diaper bag
- several jackets
- 1 single stroller
- 1 double stroller
- 1 dolly stroller
Had to head home and unload it first AND THEN go back to Costco. (Luckily, I live maybe 2 miles from it. But still.)
Incidentally, I’m glad we got the Yukon XL. Because we obviously use that extra cargo space. Oy.
Jill has been completely obsessed with the dogs lately. She coos “good boy” (even though they are girls) and pets them for the longest time. The dogs oblige. Such martyrs.
Also, she likes to full on MACK OUT with them. Which is horrifying and nauseating and I’m yelling “PUT YOUR TONGUE BACK IN YOUR MOUTH JILLIAN!!! THAT IS FILTHY!!!”
Gaaaaagggggg.
And don’t you dare tell me that a dog’s mouth is cleaner than a humans. Because I really don’t care. Because they lick their butts. The end. Exhibit A. Case closed. Science or wherever people get this information from is WRONG.
Seriously, the most used, loved, favorite, awesomest piece of furniture in my house.
I can squish all three in a row for now and they color happily for quite a bit.
I know this won’t last long, but I love seeing them play quietly and near each other in a way that does not involve a screen.
(I wrote a post over at The Art of Simple about encouraging creativity in your kids, if you want to check that out.)
So I kinda hate to rub it in, but I’m totally gonna anyway. Because when people say “I hate to…but…” they really don’t hate it. Actually they love it. Because they are secretly mean like that. Like me.
It’s been downright HOT here. So warm, in fact, that my kids played in the sprinklers and I even had to sunscreen them.
I know we need the rain, but we’ll take advantage of the gorgeous weather while it’s here.
I’m excited for summer. Trampolines, water, and lazy days are our theme this year. Like last year. And the year before that.
Every. Day.
Every. Single. Day.
Some days, if I’m not quick enough, he’ll turn on the water and take a fully clothed bath.
Which is always a fantastic way to start my day.
We went back to see the monarchs and then to play in the sand for a bit.
Not my favorite, but their favorite.
The things I do for my children. Gain weight, stretch marks, 28 hours of labor, take them to the beach.
THEY HAVE NO IDEA.
And then we cuddle up, all cozy and freshly showered and watch a movie.
I love that even with a giant sectional sofa, my girls want to be piled all over me. I know this won’t last long. I’m trying to drink it in while I can.
Okay, your turn!!!
Link up your Instagram account below (for example, mine is http://instagram.com/jeannettg). I’m not talking about linking up a blog post, but your actual Instagram account. (although you can totally link up your InstaFriday post too if you did one.)
If you link up, follow at least 3 other people who linked up. (I will too!)
The idea? You get to follow cool people from this community (my favorite) AND you get a few new followers yourself!
Whatcha think? Let’s try it?!
Yay!
***NOTE***: for some silly reason, you can’t select a photo using this method of linking directly to an instagram account. If you see something about a 500 error, it doesn’t mean it won’t work, it just means that it can’t find a picture to link to. If you have a photo you want to use for the thumbnail, click the “Upload from computer” or “Direct Image URL”. Otherwise, you’ll just have the blue frog thing as your image. Which isn’t nearly as fun as seeing your smiling face.
I love the tree picture!

I saw your trunk photo on Instagram and felt your pain (except I only have one child and no SUV, just the small car.) Oy. :) And the dog photo? Reminds me of my kid and his infatuation with my mom’s dog. He loves her so very much!

Love your pictures! We are loving the California weather now as well. And I completely agree with you dogs lick their butts. Case closed.
I’ll admit that I am not one bit jealous of the heat & sunny weather. Call me crazy, but I’m loving our freezing temps and snow. haha! And, I get you.. with the dog mouth. Yuck, there’s no way that can be clean, no freakin’ way. The don’t just lick their butts, they lick other dogs butts and they even eat poop. Blech!
Hi Jeannett, :)
I am new to your blog. I found it through a woman named Kellyn, she had it on her sidebar. I have been writing a blog for some years now. You are welcome to come say hello. I live on a tropical island, I have 3 kids who are all musicians and are constantly playing music and running all over creation, enrolled in school kind of part time. My husband is also a songwriter so it’s pretty much a heyday over here.
I am an artist in my rare free time. I also love to write, garden, meditate and reflect on life. I had read through some of your blog and am touched by your story. I wish you many blessings. It is good to connect with others. You are doing a beautiful service.
Best, Theresa
