Wanna Help?

If you’ve been around here long enough, you know that one of my passions is helping others.

It’s even in my tagline.

Over the years, I’ve kinda sorta (okay, not really) figured out the best way to do philanthropy through a blog, and I’ve learned that for as much as I want to fund raise all day, every day…it’s not the most effective way to go about things.  Readers get burned out.  Pockets get emptied.  Bloggers get worn out (fundraising is HARD!).  So instead of lots of little, constant things, I’ve decided to stick to just a couple big ones per year.

I have another fundraiser/series cooking up for next month, but in the meantime, I wanted to let you know about a couple of causes two dear friends of mine are working on:

My friend Jenny is participating in her second Buddy Walk.  Donations support the Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association, and her goal is $500 this year.

Would you consider giving one dollar?  Seriously.  One.

If everyone who reads this today gave one dollar….we’d meet and exceed her goal.  By several times.

A buck.  Because seriously…look at that face!  I want to squish her!

You can read more behind the effort at Jenny’s blog HERE.

And then this morning, I saw my sweet girl Mique (of Queen Bee fame) partnering with Kmart and No Kid Hungry.

Bloggers using their platform for good?  BOOM.

I. friggin. love. it.

If you’re on Twitter, there will be a Twitter party on August 8 at Noon CDT.  I’m gonna try and participate, so maybe I’ll see you there?  (I’m @jeannettg)

As if that weren’t enough…you really want to pop over there…there’s an awesome free printable too.  Because Miq is the queen of awesome printables.

Alright, Life Rearrangers…are you in?!  Can we help support these two lovely ifIdosaysomyself girls?  Summer is winding down, school is starting up, and it’s easy to get bogged down with all the crazy…let’s take a moment and help another out, yeah?

Plus, you need some warm up for my next fundraiser.  ;)

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

I clicked over because I wanted to see what good you were up to promoting again. And then I saw this- YESSSSSSSSS!! Thank you thank you so much for sharing this J!! I was so excited when they asked me to get involved. Because you know, I’m like you- I love helping any way I can. Even though it’s not in my tagline. I think maybe it’s really because I’m just selfish- I love feeling good after giving or knowing that I’m doing something out in the world (which sometimes seems like it’s all just bad news and crazy awful things going on out there)….annnnywayyyy- thank you for promoting. I love you. And miss you! xoxo

Ah, the power of the blogging community. I have also tapped my fellow blogging friends to help children in my country, in my province, specifically. My province is one of the poorest in my country and parents can hardly buy school supplies for thier children who oftentimes stop going to school because of lack of pencils or pens and papers. It’s really hard to imagine that there are kids who couldn’t go to school for lack of school supplies. So for five years now, I have been going around indigent schools distributing school supplies. This, with the help of fellow bloggers who send over goodies for distribution for the project called Pens of Hope.

I salute you and the other bloggers here for giving selflessly to those in need and for sharing your inspiring stories.
