Every week we share the simple, everyday moments from our lives…and we smile.

Because even with all the yelling, time outs, and “Dear Jesus, why won’t they just BEHAVE?!“s, it really is magical, this Life.

I’m jeannettg on insta if you want to follow!

I have this board on Pinterest titled “Do With Kids“.

I really should call it, “Overly Ambitious, Nice Idea, A for Effort, But Let’s Face It, You’re Never Gonna Get Around to Doing Even 1% of These Educational Activities With Your Kids” Board.

But, I figured it’s the absolute tail end of summer, so I should probably knock out a few of them.  Or one.  Whatever.

The Marshmallow Catapult.

My job here is done.

My kids got a gift card to Barnes & Noble for their birthdays last year…like 2012 last year.

I loooove me some books, but we dont’ have a BN and I couldn’t stomach the idea of spending a chunk of their gift on shipping.  So it sat.

I finally made it to a brick & mortar store and stocked up on chapter books for bedtime read alouds.  Henry is about to be crushed when he finds out that the girls get to join us.

So, there’s this cheesy thing.

It’s so cliche and touchy feely I’m cringing just typing about it.

But, I mean…I kinda feel like I have a book inside me that needs to come out.

(Told you!  That’s BAD, right?!)

But it’s true.  But I don’t exactly know what about.  I mean, I know in general, but I don’t have my thoughts on it straight.

I’m not ready to write.  So, I’ll do what any logical person does: I”ll read about writing.

I also picked up Bird by Bird.  I have a feeling Ms. Lamott is about to knock me out of my not-ready-to-write thing.

But I kinda want to ask Ms. Lamott (who I’m sure is gonna convince me I need to get over my damn self and just WRITE), what it is exactly, I’m supposed to do with my four children?

I got to squish not one, but TWO fresh babies this week.

Baby Cora (pictured above) was just two days old.  Incidentally, she looks more like my kid than my own kids do (ahem, Jill).

A few days later I squished Baby Ezra.  (No pic, plus I didn’t ask his parents if it was kosher to splash his picture all over the internets, I’m thoughtful like that).

And you know what?  It was the FIRST TIME EVER I held an itty bitty squeaking baby in a skin suit and didn’t gasp, heart in my throat…”I want another!!!!

Interesting turn of events.

Andy was out of town on business ALL. FREAKING. WEEK.

I called my mom, and was like “Hey, I mean, I don’t know what you are doing, but I’M GOING TO LOSE MY MIND WITH THESE END OF THE SUMMER CHILDREN IF I”M LEFT HERE ALONE WITH THEM FOR SIX SOLID DAYS.  So, you wouldn’t want to drive up and hang out, would you?”  ::blink blink::

My mom came.  And they even convinced her to Do Glitter.

I will be finding glitter for centuries.  It’s worse than Christmas tree pine needles.

Herpes of the craft world.

If you follow me on Insta, you’ve seen my #NaughtyPorkchop pics.

You guys.  This boy.

He is just…mischievous.  Non-stop.  Big things.  Little things.  Never ceasing.  All the things.

Daddy had JUST picked up his suits from the dry cleaners.  He had JUST packed them ever so carefully.

Where does the Porkchop choose to sit?

2,000 squre feet of house and it’s the only logical spot to plant his keister.

And look at me all like, “What?  Is this wrong?

This is the classic Mom Just Caught Me With Something I’m Not Supposed To Have So I’m Gonna Take Off Running As Fast As My Short Little Bow Legged Legs Can Take Me.

In this case, a dispenser of bubbles.

But there’s sunflare, so I guess that makes it look magical and happy.  Instead of a slippery, soapy, bubbly mess if he drops it.

IMG_5593

Cart restraints?

He laughs in their cart restraint face.

Mind you, I never, not ONCE, used those straps for any of the others.

IMG_5595

The funny thing about baby gates is that you actually have to close them for them to work.

Quite fascinating.

Also, stairs are Baby Crack.  He cannot control himself if he even senses that they might be accessible.
IMG_5602

You know those people who say “Nap when the baby naps!!!”

Dude.  Naps is when I get 99.999999% of ALL THE THINGS done in my life.

Because this.

Constant.  All day.  The kid is into SOMETHING.  I should be a size 0.  Oh wait, but I’m not.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

I absolutely love all of your #naughtyporkchop pics on IG. Owen is adorable and so so mischievous! Oh glitter. We used glitter a couple of weeks ago and even after tons of vacuuming I’m still seeing it everywhere! Nice of your mom to come up and help though. Enjoy your weekend!

O goodness! One of the books you have in you ought to be titled “#naughtyporkchop!” I never tire of reading of his adventures. Reminds me of my kiddos back when. I have a similar ‘sitting-in-dishwasher’ photo. // Have a great week!

My son used to do that exact same thing with the dishwasher door when he was that age! Unfortunately, I never got a photo of it.

Super cute! I would be on a steady diet of donuts and caffeine if I had to chase a porkchop around. With maybe a khalua chaser in my coffee too…
