InstaFriday

Filtered moments captured with the phones we have in our back pocket.

Join us as we tell the stories behind the pictures!

(I’m jeannettg if you want to follow on insta.)

We headed to Montana de Oro after church last week.

It’s a state park, and it is a gorgeous spot.  If you find yourself in These Parts you truly must visit.

The boy ate rocks by the chubby fistfuls and shortly after this sweet picture, laid at the water’s edge face first and tried to lap up ocean water.

Because it’s not like mom had packed water.  In bottles.  Void of sea weed and salt.  And fish carcasses.

I shared my playroom/schoolroom with you guys last week.

This is the real life version.

We clean it up everyday.  Every evening it looks pretty and picturesque.

And then the kids wake up.

But I guess that’s the point, right?

Standing on the table, pantsless is the only logical way to eat blueberries.

While waving hi to mommy no less.

It’s time to move up to the next size of clothes…I found Henry’s little dinosaur costume in the boxes.

Owen wore it all day.

Even while mowing the lawn.

Totally normal.

A nearby town was having a gem and mineral show.

It really was quite fascinating.  Henry’s looking at petrified wood in this picture.  The insides look like/are? glass.  It’s crazy, really.

Funny subculture of folks.  These people are INTO rocks.  I mean, INTO.  Like, spending hundreds/thousands of dollars on this stuff.  And then there was the small subset of people looking for specific crystals for their healing powers and such.

But for my budding science nerd, he enjoyed it and we even had fun too.  It’s interesting to look at.

The other kids?  Bored to tears.  Literally.

We have a birthday party on Saturday.

Henry chose the gift.  Obviously.

Remind me to plan ahead and order on amazonnext time.  I paid more than double at Toys R Us.  Grrrr.

Seriously child?

Pulled that right out of the dishwasher tray (I know, I’m the worst at rinsing dishes.  It’s whatevs.  The machine will get it.  That’s why I paid so much money for it.)

Brownie batter is delicious.  Even babies know it.

And yes, that is a giant dent in the front of my fridge.  And why yes, it appears to be at just the same height as a careening dolly stroller.

I wonder how it got there?

THIS IS WHY WE DON”T HAVE NICE THINGS.  Jerks.

I can’t wait for my kids to invite me over to their brand new homes someday.

I’m gonna show up with a hammer, a box of crayons, and a crate of Legos.

Justice.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

This is hysterical. From the lapping up of sea water to getting justice by visiting your kids with legos & crayons when they’re older. That’s a brilliant idea really. Looks like you had a lovely week. And, that sweet little guy of yours, he’s getting SO big!!

This post made me laugh. What a character that O-bo is! And Henry. Seriously. What a great kid! I love that he loves science and skating. // At some point I resigned myself to not having anything too nice. Not for forever, just for this season of kids and pets. I’d rather let them relax and be kids than to be anxious about possessions that could break. // Have a great week!
