I apologize in advance to those of you whose instagram streams I see filled with snow.
Truly. I would probably die.
I mean, sure it’s kinda sad that we don’t really have seasons…and pathetic that my kids have no clue what snow is beyond what they see on cartoons…and part of me wishes they did…and then Spring rolls around and I’m like “Nah. This is good. We’re cool.”
Saturdays. They are my favorite. They are Family Day.
Except that this day was also Tractor Pull Day. The highly anticipated once a year event that boys get into a tizzy about.
I was sort of annoyed that we were going to be split up on Saturday. I mean, it’s SATURDAY. We don’t split up!
But it was good. For all of us.
The day was warm with a perfectly light breeze.
My plants just starting to bloom.
I don’t know what kind of plant this is but I love it.
It’s like little clusters of golf ball sized hydrangeas.
While we enjoyed Spring, Henry and Andy did this.
Geek out at big dragster like Tractors, tricked out and all crazy like.
The littles changed into bathing suits, and this was the scene at one end of the pool…
…and at the other end of the pool.
Girlfriend doesn’t like getting splashed.
Henry posed with engines.
We played in the water and sausaged baby rolls into rash guards that can hardly contain the chub.
I lounged on the patio furniture and watched.
We let the chickens wander all free range like while we hung out.
Oh, wait…did I mention we got chickens?
Yeah. We did.
Because chickens are the new black.
And I obviously need another project.
We got four chickens about three weeks ago.
One for each kid. Because that’s how it goes, right?
Flo, Elsie, Hattie…and Snow White.
The all black chicken. Obviously.
I’ll let you guess who Snow White belongs to.
Babies crawled through grass chasing chicks.
And sometimes even caught little tails in their chubby hands. Watch out Snow White!
I marveled at my new little vegetable garden.
It’s so bitty and tiny, but in our suburban yard, it’s all we have room for.
(How cool is my Agro Tower?)
Our berries are coming along.
Until Lucy picks them excitedly. And I have to scold her for picking them too soon. Dang kids. I’m trying to be a farmer and they mess it all up.
The day was so simple and quaint, and somehow the peep, peep, peep of the chickens gave it just that perfect touch.
Remembering that garden hoses make perfect baby toys.
I mean, look at his arms. It’s too much goodness.
I filled our bird feeders. It was just one of those “I love my dorky little life” kind of days.
I was bummed that the boys were missing our tranquil little afternoon.
In fact, I was even a little bitter. SATURDAY! Hello?!
But then Andy texted me these pictures and realized that it’s good to peel away one on one too.
There is room for individual time. There is room for family time.
It all matters. It all makes for memories.
I mean, let’s be serious…
‘Murica.
Right?
So awesome.
Gosh darn. Your kids are so cute! Love me some baby squish! (and the Agro Towers too, of course! )

Well, of course the day I post about our fabulous Spring weather, it’s all overcast and chilly today. Ha! But generally, and that day, it was about 78 degrees. :)
Ok, I had to check in Celsius as my Eastern European brain still does not work well with Fahrenheits ;) 26 degrees! Wow. That’s pretty much summer for me. Sorry to hear it got all worse, but chilly days that make us stay at home are appreciated too, aren’t they? :)

That does sound like the best afternoon!!! I live in AZ now and do not miss the snow at all!!! That and I can always visit the parentals that live in the mountains of NM if I get the urge to see snow. ;) BUT I wish we had a little less wind and a little more green like your part of the world!
