Spruce up for spring and Easter! {World Market}

Springtime and all of its happy bright colors is my favorite.

I love the way my yard blooms to life.  The way the birds chirp happily.  The way the sky seems extra blue.  Before it gets too hot.  And certainly after the chill of winter.

Easter is around the corner, with promises of new life and twirly dresses.

It was time to do a quick switcharoo of the accessories in my house from the deeper jewel tones I did in the Fall, and go with the brighter colors of Spring and Easter.

Lucky for me, World Market had my back.  So I snuck out, sans kids, and shopped.

I could be there for dayyyyyyssss.

We need to discuss the perfection of the above collage: rainbow glass lanterns, rainbow stacking dishes, and rainbow buttons in a headboard.  For those of you aware of my white dishes weirdness, keep in mind these would be for the kids.  And my counter.  Cute though they may be, I would risk death or maiming. ..or something equally dramatic if I tried to eat off of them.

I was supposed to be buying accessories, but I can never seem to stay away from the furniture section.  In fact, if that headboard came in a California King, I’m pretty sure it would have come home with me that night.  Budget?  What budget?

The store is filled with fun details for Easter.  My favorite were all the little bottle brush animals.  And I’m kinda kicking myself for not getting that twig swag thing for my front door.

Cute baking supplies?

World Market, you have my number.

It’s almost unfair.  Remember those toy store shopping sprees they used to have on TV when we were little?  Some lucky kid had like five minutes to run through the store and got to keep whatever they could get into their cart?

I want to do that at World Market.  I’d even train beforehand.

Loop after loop after loop through the store, putting things in my cart…taking them out…putting something else in…one more loop…oh the headboard!…this is what I finally came home with:

New velvety pillows in the perfect shades of greeny/aqua/tiffany blue and the best coral pink.

I’m not much of a baby pink person, but I like the deeper shades…and this season I’ve seen so much of this orangey pink and I’m in love with it.  I feel like I need more coral in my life.

I also splurged a bit on that nest pillow.  The colors in it are almost exact matches to the solid pillows and it goes well with my bird theme.  (I know, I know…put a bird on it…).  I tried really hard to buy some of the bunnies they had…but rabbits kind of creep me out.  Maybe it’s all that Kujo stuff from the 80’s.  Birds are Eastery too, right?  Totally.

I also found this great tray for my coffee table.  The bottom has a fun pattern and is topped with glass.

A couple of those glass lanterns and a little blue bird make it all ready for springtime.

Isn’t he the cutest with his twiggy wings?

My kids think so too.  Ahem.

IMG_8186

Have you seen this wood tray disc dealie?!

I couldn’t resist.  It’s perfect for springtime and I love how it contrasts against my white cabinet.

The hobnail candle holder and another twiggy bird keep my tray company.

Remember how I bought this chair at World Market last time?

An orange and pink ikat lumbar pillow brings some of my new color palette to this corner of the room too.

IMG_8181

And a couple more little birds.  Because…I can.

IMG_8183

So there you have it…a few new pillows and some twiggy birds make all the difference!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

I like the way the accessories can change the atmosphere in the whole room. I have a springy desing all year round though, as most of the walls are painted blue (not my choice, it was like that when we moved in and as we are only renting the place, it is also to stay like that). I am looking forward to having freshly cut flowers on my desk!

I love the next pillow and birds! I wish we had a World Market close to me. I’d buy up those bottle brush birds fo sho! And that tray. And the pillows. And even a bunny. Maybe it’s a good thing we don’t have one close………This is killing me with curiosity: why are some of your links crossed out and others not? Just wondering. Is it a bloggy etiquette that I don’t know about?
