InstaFriday

The everyday sillyness that might not be blog worthy on its own, always seems to make up my favorite posts anyway.

Join us as we link up nothing but cell phone pics!

(They don’t have to be instagrams, but if you want to follow me, I’m jeannettg!)

I will begin this week’s InstaFriday festivities with a flashback insta of O-Bo.

He was only HOURS old here.

And now he’s CRAWLING.

Not okay.

You know, last week I had a meltdown.

Because I was just OVER how much I tidied and straightened and cleaned and…and it NEVER LOOKED LIKE I HAD DONE A DANG THING.

Enter this girl who decided to first empty out the bath toys…and THEN blow her nose.

I just had to laugh.

Because she’s too much cuteness.  Even when she’s being naughty.  In pink pearls no less.

That, and my only other option was to cry.  So I went with laughing.

Henry worked on his valentines.

I love his crazy wonky writing.

Homeschooling him is funny because I’m supposed to make him straighten things out and make it better…but every cell in my body just wants it to stay catywompus and adorable.  Sigh…

The kids like to work out in the garage with Daddy.

Even Jill gets in on the act and copies as best she can.  Which is pretty much the cutest thing in all the land.

But mostly she just crawls all over him and giggles hysterically when he’s trying to do crunches.

Sometimes I rescue him.  Usually when he’s yelling for me.  But not always.

There was a rocket launch this week from the nearby Air Force Base.

Normally, I would have driven us out to the viewing area, but Andy didn’t tell me until like 20 minutes before so I didn’t have time.

Instead, we stood on the picnic table in the backyard and had Spaceflight Now running on the iPad (it streams the live feed from Mission Control…so you can hear them yapping and doing checks and the official countdown and such).

“Mommy, the rocket is at 4,000 feet now…”

Uh huh.  Yup.  That’s really cool son.  Stay out there while Mommy slams another Oreo.

Every night Henry and I cuddle in my bed.

Lately we’ve been reading chapter books.  Well, I’m reading…he’s listening.

We finished Charlotte’s Web and now we’re onto Stuart Little.

Honestly, it seems boring to me…I know I read it as a kid, but I can’t remember liking it or not.  But Henry likes it.

Next I want to read The Phantom Tollbooth.  I’m super excited to get to that one.  Like a lot excited.  I even tried to just skip finishing Stuart Little but that didn’t go over well.  Boo.

My newest Lisa Leonard charm came!

This has been the funnest little jewelry party thing ever!  It’s so cool to get a little package in the mail every month and keep adding to the bracelet.  Part of me can’t wait until it’s all complete…but then that means no more little mail surprises.  She’s just gonna have to invent some other monthly deal for next year.

I’ll be sure and put in my request.  Did you get that Lisa?

Skateboarding is still alive and well over here.

I seriously think Henry spent 5 hours rolling back and forth.  Falling.  Doing tricks.  Falling.  Rolling yesterday.  During showertime, we found about 4 fresh bruises.

And did I mention Owen is CRAWLING?!

And always, always, always beelines right for the skateboards.  Just minutes after I snapped this picture he crawled up onto a board and almost cracked his baby noggin on the concrete sidewalk.

Boys are nuts.  Both of them.

I love this.  Like a lot love.

I’m giving one away too…did you see?  I’m pulling a winner tomorrow so you still have time to enter.

And I will end with a story:

Larry the bus driver asks me yesterday “So, you the mom or the babysitter?”

“I’m the mom.”

“Oh, you don’t look like the mom…”

{insert me being all flattered here}

“…cuz you don’t look nuthin’ like her.  I thought this was a daycare or something.”

{insert me not being flattered anymore}

“Nope.  I’m the mom.”

“Of all of them?”

“Yup.  All four.  Not a daycare.”

“Oh that’s cool.  My mom does that too.  Run a daycare.”

Right.

Not awkward.  Not awkward at all.

You’re turn!  Grab a button, link up, and visit one another!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Your family is just so adorable. I love that even the dog is in there while your hubby is trying to exercise. I used to have a black lab who would hang her head over me while I was trying to do sit-ups. By the way, that Larry is a fool. You just look too darn young to be the mom of four kids. Period. :) Joann

So true – how could a mom be upset at the scene of bath toys dumped out and toilet paper stretched across the bathroom as Jilly wipes her nose…in pink pearls! I totally get what you’re saying about not wanting to correct the handwriting. I have a really hard time correcting the funny things they say too! You mean it’s not ok if, as an adult, we’re still saying “benember?”

Oh that bus driver story is too funny. Some people really need to get a filter. :) And I love the pic of your kids “helping” your hubby work out. My boys like to use their pretend treadmills when I’m on mine…it is very entertaining. :)

Bahahahaa “My mom does that too.”

Sometimes, the way people listen so intently to our words just gets me right here, you know?

That story just keeps getting better. Happy Friday!!!!

I love your final pic…it goes perfectly with your story (which was pretty funny, so thank you for sharing!). Some people do not have that filter in their head that tells them what shouldn’t come out of their mouths. LOL.

    Have a great weekend!

What a funny story. Sometimes you just have to laugh. Sometimes you have more opportunities to choose to laugh than others. Man. But Joy, the kind that comes in the morning. That is good stuff. // have a great week. xo, ab

We just finished Charlotte’s web as well! I have been trying to figure out which book to read next, Stuart Little! Why did I not think of that one! My son is crazy in love with Stuart Little 2 right now as well. Thanks for the book idea. I just LOVED reading him chapter books out loud. Hubby usually reads the picture books I am not so in to that, but I sure loved the chapter book.

Oh my gosh! I can SO relate to the cleaning…I feel like that’s all I do all day but when my husband gets home it looks like I sat on the couch and ate bon-bons. Grrrr!
I’m really sorry that your bus driver is so rude, but I laughed out loud! Thanks for the smile today!

Larry The Bus Driver needs some new lensewear. All your kids have the same nose.

    The end.

http://www.spacearchive.info/vafbsked.htm so you don’t have to wait for Andy to tell you about the launches. I was at the launch on Monday, but we didn’t have a fancy loudspeaker like you had, I’m jealous. We were on the side of Harris Grade Rd at a turnout.

Do you think Henry would like The Boxcar Children? Or maybe too young for the original old school Hardy Boys?

Cute photos!! Hilarious story, I remember my mom used to get annoyed that people would call her the lady with all the kids…and she only had 3. I wonder how many I’ll have? [bf wants 2 only so maybe I’ll stop there?] And, I loved Phantom Tollbooth as a kid! Have fun reading it :)
