For some reason, I always assumed I’d be the Boy Mom.
I don’t know why, but I just figured I’d have that loud, crazy house filled with lots of stinky boys who wore nothing but shorts and t-shirts and who laid around the couch comparing scars and bragging over who had the most stitches in their lifetime.
So imagine my complete surprise when I found out that not only was I having twins…but they were BOTH girls.
I really didn’t have any reason to think I would only have boys…maybe just that I’m kinda scared of girls. Terrified, actually.
Girls are just…complicated. Am I right, or am I right?
But you know what girls TOTALLY have going for them?
THE CLOTHES.
I mean, boy clothes has come a long way in even the five years since Henry was born, but still. Girl clothes is 100,000 times cuter than boy clothes.
When I was given the opportunity to shop the latest Kids & Baby Sale at Old Navy, I literally had to stop, take a deep breath, and pace myself upon walking into the kids’ section.
The cuteness was almost overwhelming.
For example…these rompers?
Tell me that floral number wasn’t pretty much MADE for Jilly and that denim version wouldn’t look awesome topped with a head of wildly curly hair?
I thought so too.
Also perfect?
That little yellow jacket.
It’s too much.
I could buy one of ALL THE THINGS.
Now, I know I just went on and on about how boy clothes is meh…but this outfit with the green pants would be awesome on Henry.
In fact, I think I need to go back and buy it.
Normally shopping for kids isn’t my favorite task. After all, four kids 5 years and under can make trying to outfit them all a pricey task. And if you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time you know that I’m not a huge fan of spending a lot of money on much of anything. But if you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time you also know that I’m picky and like nice things.
Contradictory? Not to me. Or the folks at Old Navy.
Because let me show you the ridiculous cuteness I scored for my girls:
Oh what?
I die.
I mean, Jill’s have polka dots on them.
I really had no other choice.
And Lucy with the color blocking?
And the gold sandals?
Girl is on par with the latest trends.
Boom.
Jill’s little shirt slays me: a Parisian girl with a French bulldog and oversized sunnies.
Did I mention that these shirts are a measly $6?!
And the skinny jeans are a lousy $12?!
So, an entire outfit for less than $20?!
An entire ADORABLE outfit for less than $20?!
EXACTLY.
Gold jelly sandals.
For $8.
In retrospect, I realize that Jill’s braces would probably work in these.
Pretty sure she needs a pair in silver.
Certain of it in fact.
While I was there, I also spotted these coordinating (but not matching!!!) dresses.
Blue for the blonde. And the perfect shade of pink for Lu.
I love how this color makes her rosy cheeks stand out.
Even if she’s pouting about me making her stand still.
I had to promise her she could run around like a crazy as soon as I snapped a couple of pictures.
Those gold sandals are the cutest. Ever.
Yeah…Jilly totally needs a pair in silver.
I love the yellow detailing on the dress.
Happiness.
These fun dresses will be perfect for Easter.
They are bright and happy and…$12 a piece.
TWELVE. DOLLARS.
Honestly, I don’t think you can buy ugly dresses for that much anywhere.
Alright girls…GO!
I love these two. So. Stinking. Much.
I’m still completely terrified of girls.
But at least I can dress them cute on the cheap while I pray I don’t mess up too much on our way to adulthood.
(Btw, the Kids & Baby Sale is going on now through 2/20…and this weekend you can get an extra 15-20% off even the sale prices. They didn’t tell me to tell you this. But seriously…I want you to know!!!)

Um, green jeans for the boy who loves green? Yes.
Yellow jacket? Yes, please.
Miss A is 4 in April, but guess who wears 5T slim skinny jeans? Old Navy has the best deals on slim skinny jeans ever.
I was laughing at comment #1 because I was gonna put on here how Lucy is your doppelgänger LOL
I hear my mom laughing at me from heaven, over the joy I have in shopping for my girls’ clothes.
Cheers,
Caryl
They look soooo cute! :)

Too cute!!! I love getting a score when I go out shopping, and this looks like a score to me!! Also, I’ve been reading your blog for a while and both girls look so grown up in those outfits! And both look so confident in themselves and the sass just shines through! I’d say you are doing a great job, if a picture is worth a thousand words, momma!
Love these little clothes! I just recently bought a dress from .twirlygirlshop.com, and it looks very similar to the dress your little girl is wearing, i LOVE it!!
I never go to old navy but driving by yesterday I thought of this post and stopped. They had cute stuff I needed up leaving with 2 complete outfits head to toe for my 2 year old for under $18. Then that night I took back my 10, 7, and 5 year old to let them pick out an outfit, maybe 2. They were so happy since I never do that back to school shopping thing, I know bad mama, I always just grab things on sale. Thanks for the info, I would have never gone in.

Ahhh these are so adorable! I just started getting into these kind of cloths. I got a dress just like the red one in the photo for my little Cynthia from http://www.persnicketyclothing.com/. It’s so fun to dress up your little ones and make them feel are pretty!
Hi! Do you know if they make any plugins to assist with SEO?
I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good gains.
If you know of any please share. Thank you!
