Link Love

Some fun finds on the internet lately that I thought I’d share.

Dear Mom on the Hard Days.  Loved this.  Loved.  Life is messy.  And hard.  And that’s okay.  Besides, perfect is for wimps.

Ronan.  If you haven’t read this story yet, get up right now…no really…and grab a box of tissues first.  You won’t get through this without crying.  But it’s that painfully beautiful mixture of happy/sad cry.  Listen to the song.  Be encouraged that there are good, kind, lovely people in the world.

Space shuttles and Toyotas.  I am giddy to hear that the Space Shuttle Endeavour will be headed to the California Space Center next month.  And it will be towed from LAX to the museum by a Toyota Tundra.  All 150 tons of it.  And I’m seriously trying to make it work for us to go watch this piece of American history crawl its way through Los Angeles.  Because that is UH-mazing stuff and totally memory maker caliber for Henry.  If you have a Twitter account, and you tweet their little message, Toyota will donate $50 to the CSS up to $500,000.  Takes but a second.  Promise.  Use your social media presence for good.

Ever wonder why things like the Space Shuttle and watching rocket launches and (even waking up at crazy hours to see) are such an important part of our family life?  Because my husband is an aerospace engineer, which means that his love of all things aviation are contagious.  And he’s seriously one of the smartest people I know.  And I’m really proud of him.  They’ve worked hard.  They’re being recognized.  A full two page spread on his little company in a national industry magazine?  That’s a big deal.  Good job babe.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Jeannette, I forgot that your hubby was an aerospace engineer. That’s what my degree’s in, although I’ve never worked as one. I stay at home with my three ankle biters. And I have to say that while calculating some sort of compressible flow over an airfoil was challenging, figuring out how to get a three year old to poop when she is firmly against it is also quite challenging.

But if I lived nearby I’d be right up there with you watching the shuttle launch. Congrats on your hubby’s hard work! That’s really cool!
