Itty Bitty Baby Pictures

Remember when I tried to take newborn pictures of Owen and it was a colossal fail?

Well, I emailed Beth frantically after that.

Wondering if she had time to squeeze us in…you know, like in a couple of days.

Because Owen was already almost three weeks old…and those sleepy squishy newborn pics are usually taken in the first 10 days of life.  And most great photographers are booked months in advance.

Lucky for us, Beth obliged my disheveled request and came over just a few days later.

And I pretty much want to marry her after I saw the pictures she captured.

Little bitty Owie Bowie.

So squishy and sweet.

I can almost hear his little newborn grunts and squeaks.

OH myword.

I know I’m his mama and all, but I want to eat him up.

And it makes me FREAK OUT at how much he has changed.

He’s about 10 weeks now and he’s beginning to lose that newborn look and is looking more like a regular baby.

And I’m not happy about this turn of events.

Not one bit.

Hey buddy.

Our little caboose.

Bringing up the Gibson rear.

Welcome to the family.

It’s a crazy one, but you’ll get used to it.

Each of my children hold my heart.

But each in different ways.

This boy…he calms me.

Even when he’s fussing.

Which is admittedly not very often.

He is my easiest babe.

He might be clingy, but he has a sweet little spirit.

And he sleeps at night.

So basically he rocks.

And he smiles.

A lot.

Even in the hospital he was forever grinning in his sleep.

I love that Beth captured this dreamy, bubbly grin.

Our little family feels so much more rounded out now that he has joined the clan.

Maybe because our count is 2 and 2.

But I think there is more to it.

I think he was just always meant to be here.

The swirls.

I am irrevocably in love.

(And really stoked we snuck these pictures in before Creeper Hair happened.)

But my favorite image of all?

This one.

With his little back rolls.

The lips.

Oh my.

This picture gives me baby fever.

(Andy just freaked out that I said that.)

When I saw this picture, I was so excited.

And sad that Andy was in Atlanta on business that day.

And secretly glad that no one had played outside yet.  Because shoes aren’t always a part of that.

I’m forever thankful that Beth captured these moments.

Me and my littles.

A wild, rambunctious, silly group.

All so different.

But a family.

My family.

That God hand selected.

We aren’t perfect.

We aren’t always well behaved.

We aren’t without fault.

But we’re in it together.

* * * *

Oh, and just a few extras that made me laugh:

O-Dog representin’.

Westsiiiiiiide!

Poor Beth tried to get one of just the kids.

This would have been cute except that Jill pretty much looks like she’s about to kill Henry.

The usual.

And then the girls were throroughly annoyed when asked to look at the camera.

And it had obviously been more than 14 minutes since Owen had last eaten.

And this picture.

The one that had me rolling.

Which really should be the one framed because it’s the one that captured each personality.

Henry being fairly compliant.  Except that he wanted to get under the blankets.  Hence the “fairly”.

Jill making her latest cheeser face…which is basically annoyance.

Owen desparately looking for nourishment.

Pirate face Elvis making an appearance.

And me.

Faking it.  Looking like I’m all cool and chill…but really, I’m begging my kids to just behave for just one millisecond.  But it ain’t happening.

There you have it.

That’s us.  Right there.

If you’re local to the Central Coast, I highly recommend Beth Armsheimer Photography.  She was super sweet, was great with the kids, and I think she got some fantastic images.

Did you get newborn pictures of your kids?  Aren’t they the best?!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Frame them all! When your kids are in their teens, you will look at them and realize they really are ALL perfect!

Oh I just melted a little at our pictures. Seriously cute. I’m so glad he’s your calm. And that last one with all of you. It’s you as a mom. Without being fake. That’s what being a mom is, smiling while all around you is chaos, because no matter what they do you love them.

So Adorable! I have great newborn in hospital pictures of both my boys but sadly the in hospital photographer lost the roll (or it was damaged can’t remember which, sadly she was born before digital was popular) that had my daughters newborn pic. We moved 2 weeks after her birth to a town 3000 miles away the move took weeks, since we drove it with a newborn, 2 year old and a 6 year old and had to wait at the boarder several days for paperwork. Anyways by the time we settled in and I had a moment to order her pics and then find out what happen she was huge!!! Still makes me tear up a bit when I see the boys professional newborn pics in their books and her’s doesn’t have one.

ahhhh I LOOOOVE all of these!!! Precious! I am a strong believer of getting newborn photos done for sure. I don’t regret the money we have spent on getting professional pictures done for a second. They are just something you will forever cherish. So taking your own newborn photos was not so great huh? I was “thinking” I may take a shot at it when baby #3 finally happens but likely it would be a big flop too. Maybe I won’t even think about it! :)
