It’s Happening Again.

Oh yes, yes it is.

Or did.

When Henry was a baby, he had this sweet head of hair.

Not a ton, but not bald either.

But before we knew it…it started falling out.

Now, I realize this happens to lots of babies, but this was different.

Because you see, it was only falling out on the TOP.

The sides and the back?  Not only did they stay put, but they kept growing longer and longer and longer…

and it was not cute.

Not one bit.

He looked like an old man.

A creeper old man.

The kind that needs a hair cut.  But only on the sides and the back.

Not cute.

So bad.

He even had a comb over.

And so, at about 6 weeks old, we buzzed Henry’s head.

Because I couldn’t let him go around looking like a creeper.

See how much cuter he looked when he wasn’t rocking a weird mullet?

Totally cuter.

My girls?  Didn’t have this problem.  In fact, they were both pretty much bald.  So there wasn’t anything to lose in a weird balding pattern.

But Owen.

Oh, Owen.

I kinda thought his hair was looking thinner, but when I saw little tiny Owen hairs on my white sheets, I knew it was happening again.

So we waited a bit.  Just to be sure.

And yes, yes, it was happening.

His hair was falling out in little chunks.

But only parts of it.

And see how the new hair was starting to come in?  (excuse the blurry phone pic…sometimes you don’t realize it’s blurry until you put it up on the computer screen.)

It looked like he had Boy Band bangs.

And a mullet.

So not cute.

And the long?  In the back?

I could almost braid it into a little baby rattail.

So we shaved him down.

At a wee 4 weeks old.

Owen’s first haircut.

Weird little rattail gone.

Peace out mullet old man creeper hair.

And see?

He looks all fresh shaven and non-creeper status.

Because our family isn’t afraid of the hair clippers.

We embrace them.

Because Creeper Babies are weird.

(And yes, my boys are pretty much identical.  My twins on the other hand…notsomuch.)

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

My daughter had the weird old man hair too, but hers grew in that way! She was bald until she was almost 1, and then it started growing in from the back. She rocked a pretty epic mullet for a while.

This was hysterical! I never thought about using clippers on a baby, but the old man creeper hair is just too much. So funny that it was only on your boys!

Nice job! Much less creepy. Babies aren’t allowed to have creepy hair!

Hm. Creeper hair. THAT was funny! Super cute buzz cut on the LO. My daughter came in with a full head of hair (that she didn’t lose), but it was dark brown. Now it’s blonde. Funny stuff, hair.
