#whilejgetscut

We are alive and well over here, even if blogging would suggest otherwise.

Owen is a rockstar and sleeps great…he was only waking up ONCE in the night…and then last night he didn’t wake up AT ALL until 5:30 a.m.  (Needless to say a very uncomfortable mommy woke up in a panic and did that “watch the baby breathe” thing).

My one “gripe” is that the kid eats CONSTANTLY.  As in, all. day. long.  Waaaaay more often than the average baby…it’s like he thinks I’m a walking Hometown Buffet or something.  Snack Bar.  Concession Stand.  I don’t know.  But little dude EATS.  Without ceasing.

In the meantime, I’m still completely overwhelmed at the thought of sifting through the hundreds (yes, hundreds) of pictures we have of the birth/first days…so instead of that post, I figured it would be fun to take a look at what all of YOU were doing while I was being sliced open like a watermelon.

The funny thing is that my scheduled c-section of 4:30…didn’t actually start until more like 5:15…because MY DOCTOR WAS LATE.

Didn’t he know that Twitter was waiting????!!!

Sheesh.

Some people.

I was able to scroll through a few of your #whilejgetscut instagrams while waiting for Mr. Has No Respect For Other Peoples’ Time and was cracking up.

Also, I was jealous.

Because while I was sitting in an oh-so glamorous hospital gown waiting to be fileted (and meet my new baby…that too…), y’all were having a grand old time swimming and baking and eating fabulous foods.

On our way to the hospital, Andy asked how many people I thought would actually do it.

“Oh…I don’t know…maybe 6?  10?”

Um….49 people played my silly game!!!  Wow!

And can I just say how awesome it was to know that so many of you were praying/thinking about my little family during that crazy time?

God is good.  Always.  No matter what.

But see what I mean?

Eating.  Thrifting.  Movie going.  Swimming.

If you guys weren’t so awesome, I’d be way more bitter.

Oh look…more eating.  More swimming.  More playing.

While I’m in my birthday suit and a baby blue gown open to the breezes at the rears.

And even more swimming.  And playing.  And general hanging out.

While I’m getting anxious to meet my boy.

And feeling so blessed that I have people around the country…many whom I’ve never met…many whom I may likely never meet…that are rad and amazing and fun…loving on my family in a very 21st Century way.

Thank you friends.

For cheering me up.  For keeping me sane.  For making me giggle.

You are appreciated.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Love it! oh the things I miss out on by not having my instagram app. set to public! or Tweeting. Congratulations! Oh, and I totally did the check to see they are still breathing thing when they were newborns and slept longer than normal, and I caught myself doing it again just a while ago when my 12 year old son was still sleeping at 11 a.m.! Of course when he finally woke up he was like 2 inches taller so I guess that explains why he slept over 14 hours!

You crack me up. Normal is subject to discussion. My kid ate every two hours, round the clock.

He slept all night? You are so lucky. My kid didn’t sleep all night until 18 months old. I hope he keeps it up.

    Cheers,
    Caryl
