InstaFriday

Simple, sweet, silly, filtered.

Share your cell phone pics here!

It doesn’t have to be Instagram…just as long as they come from your phone cammy!

(I’m jeannettg if you want to follow)

Someday I might get tired of these bright red plastic carts.

Someday I might use a different purse than this happy yellow chevron beauty.

Today is not that day.

Okay, so it’s not an insta, but my sister Marcia texted me this ecard.

And I laughed.  Out loud.

Not LOL…but for real.

Because it’s sadly accurate.

Father’s Day dinner.

Not pictured is the garlic bread and baked potato.

Or the massive tummy ache I had from stuffing myself silly.

Note the lack of anything green.

But it’s what he wanted.  Even if it meant he had to cook it.

I bought a little peach tree from Home Depot for our backyard a couple of summers ago for $20.

It’s been a challenge to get to the peaches before the birds do, so we put up a net thing around it this year.

And we had a harvest!!!  In the middle of the ‘burbs.

We’re practically farmers y’all.

One of the many, many reasons I love my friends?

Because they have hearts the size of Texas.

(I’ve never been to Texas but I hear it’s awfully big.)

I’ve been given the privilege of writing reference letters to adoption agencies on behalf of my friends on various occassions.  And I’m always honored that I’m asked.

Even if I always have to be reminded to do it.  Because I put it aside for when I have time to be thoughtful and intentional in my words…and sometimes always that time eludes me.

But it went out!  Can’t wait to squish Tracy’s new babies!  (Yes, plural.  Told you my friends rock.)

Another reason I love my friends?

Because they are generous and kind and crafty and fabulous.

And that generous, kind, crafty, fabulousness translates into drool worthy baby showers for yours truly.

In this case, Lindsey and Joy teamed up and put together a fun shower for me and Baby Boy.  It never hurts to be friends with the one and only Pleated Poppy, you know?  I might even ask her for her autograph someday.

And apparently they both have a sense of humor…because they included this bunting over the mantle.

(FYI, in case you missed it, Walter is our fake baby name.  We don’t tell names before the birth…but we’ve been referring to Baby Boy as Walter…which has kind of stuck…so it’ll be weird to call him something different when he comes out.  Whatever that name may be…because we still haven’t quite decided.  And I’m 37 weeks along.  Pro.)

Lindsey and Joy also threw me a shower when I was pregnant with the girls.  In case you missed it, you really want to click over.  It was pretty fabulous.

Not fabulous?

My insomnia.

That keeps me up past midnight and wakes me up by 3:30.

Because you know, I’m sure to get plenty of sleep once Walter debuts.  Right?

Pregnancy is filled with more ironies than I can list.

And I will never, ever understand it.

Donettes.

Say that out loud.

Donettes.

Doesn’t it sound so fancy?

MUCH fancier than doNUT.

That is, of course, until you take a bite and you get that waxy weird chocolate that sticks to the back of your teeth…and you realize that you can take a donette out of the plastic packaging, but you can’t take the plastic out of the donette.

Or something like that.

Laker gear.

Rainboots.

Bike helmet.

Nerf gun.

What?  That’s not what your kids wear when given free reign?

Speaking of free reign…you know where I’d love to have free reign?

Shopping Lisa’s new summer line.

One of each please.

Today’s my 10 year wedding anniversary…perhaps I deserve that big chunky anchor bracelet?

Or perhaps as a push present?  Or in my scheduled c-section case…a slice present?

Because it is calling my name.  Beckoning me.  My precious…

Summer is here and we’re doing our best to make the most of it…even if mom is absurdly pregnant and just wants to lie around all day.

Sprinklers, water tables, trampolines, sno cones, and plastic pools.

It may not be fancy, but it’s what we do around here.

Pssst…don’t forget to tell me your story of motherhood here...only a handful of entries so far!!!

Your turn!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Isn’t that true about the Father’s Day dinner? Steak and grilled food are totally my man’s food of choice too. I got a tummy ache from stuffing myself too – but at the Japanese steakhouse! We had shrimp and steak too!

    Have a great weekend!

Goodness I love that yellow chevron bag…AND in a Target cart? Perfection. :) Your Father’s Day meal looks so yummy…makes me want to go out and buy a bunch of sweet corn right now! And I don’t know how I didn’t realize that it was YOUR baby shower on Lindsey’s blog…how fun! I got a few ideas from her for a surprise party I’m throwing my Mom next week for her 60th birthday…namely the pom poms on the mason jars. SO cute! I linked up…thanks for hosting!

I love the free reign pic. He and my daughter could be good buds with their good fashion sense… That father’s day meal looks better than our concession stand meal. I personally think green is over rated… I linked up today for the first time… have a good week.

That outfit is adorable!! Totally what my little guy would wear too! I’m trying to let him pick out his clothes without interfering but it’s hard sometimes. He likes to rock the fireman rain boots and is usually armed with a Nerf gun as well!

PS. I don’t think I will EVER get sick of those plastic red carts. Sometimes I think I should just get a second job at Target considering most of my paycheck probably goes there.

    Have a great weekend!
