What the Baby Books Don’t Tell You

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know that the main purpose of this blog space is to encourage and support.  Sometimes I do that just through the sharing of my own stories.

The everyday.  The silly.  The serious.

But I also want to do something tangible in this space.

Oftentimes, that translates into a series with a fundraiser.

Previous series have been on topics like Adoption/Down Syndrome, Infant Loss/Miscarriage, and Special Needs.

Plus, we just did the big fundraiser for Xander over the holidays and the #instafooddrive in March.

Oh, and The Happy Day Project.

{Dang, you guys ROCK!}

It’s about time we did another one, don’t you think?

Love, support, encouragement and giving shouldn’t be relegated to the month of December.

This time, I didn’t really have it in me to do a “heavy” topic.  Plus, I think it’s important to recognize the Hard or Unexpected in the Every Day.  And the unfathomable Joy too.

So, every Monday for the next two months you can look forward to hearing from women all over the blogosphere, responding to the prompt: “What The Baby Books Don’t Tell You”.

Some will be funny.  Some will be heart wrenching.  They will all be amazing.

And while we’re at it, we’re gonna fundraiser for Charity: Water.

Why water?

Because the minute I became a mom, the craziest thing happened: the world shrunk.

All of a sudden, the hurt, the saddness, the pain of mothers around the world wrecked me.  When I held my own bundles, all swaddled up tight in baby burritos, my heart threatened to burst at the thought of what other mothers endure.  Mothers whose hearts swelled for their children the same way mine did.  But without the resources I had at the tips of my fingers.

The thought that 4,100 children die each day from water-related diseases…is unfathomable.

And so, I thought…what better way to honor motherhood than by serving other mothers?

Mothers we will never meet.  But who are in this sisterhood with us just the same.

The fundraiser will run the full two months of the series.

I encourage you to give.

I implore you to help me rock social media for GOOD.

Pin, Facebook, Tweet, Stumble, Tumble, Blog, and just plain shout it from the proverbial rooftops.

Because the more who see, the more who give, the more we serve.

And if that’s not worth our time, I’m not really sure what is.

You ready for Monday?

You ready to make a difference?

You IN?

Bring it, friends.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.
