Blogging Conference Roommate Gifts

As I hurl myself hundreds of miles through the skies, I carry with me the basic essentials for looking at least somewhat presentable to others.  While I’m sure that the other bloggers in attendance would certainly understand my standard fare of yoga pants, ribbed tanks, and a ponytail, I think we’re supposed to kinda go the extra mile.

Mascara don’t fail me now.

Along with my mini shampoo, mini gel, and mini toothpaste, I’m toting along a few of my favorite things as a small gifty for my roommates at SNAP.

SNAP is set to be my third blogging conference, and I don’t know if it’s a standard thing that everyone does or not, but I’ve found that at least in my little circles, roommates come bearing small gifts for one another.

Since my roommates (Lindsey, Maggie, and Meg) are all the crafty types, I wasn’t about to try to actually make something handmade for them.  I mean, that’d be kinda like painting a vase of hydrangeas for Van Gogh’s housewarming party.  Sure, he’d smile and say thank you and appreciate the gesture, but let’s face it, he’s giggling inside.

So, I thought I’d put together a small token made up of a few of my favorite things right now.  Store bought favorite things.

Wet n Wild has a fabulous new color called Refresh-Mint.

It’s the perfect shade of aqua.  And it has a really cool flat brush that makes putting it on a cinch.

I kinda want to go out and buy ten bottles…in case they decide to discontinue it or something silly like that.

A four color pen that reminds me of junior high.  It makes me want to doodle hearts and swirlies and try out what my name would look like when I married my celebrity crush du jour.  Jeannett Levine?  Jeannett Duhamel?  Jeannett Guy-Who-Plays-Gale-But-I-Don’t-Know-His-Name-Nor-Do-I-Really-Care?

A fun notebook.  Because I have a lot of cute notepads all around my house.  Most of which are empty or filled with random kid scribbles.  Not the point.

And of course, Burt’s Bees lip balm.  Always.  In every pocket.  In every purse.  In every drawer in the house.  Times three.

Stick it all in a little bag, tie it with some twine, and I’d say that’s a fun little gift, right?

Have you been to a blogging conference?  Did your roommates exchange small tokens or is that just my little circle of friends that are weird?

What would YOU put in your Favorite Things Gift?

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

We just took a super long road trip with our young kids and I got them each a 4 color pen because I loved them in Junior High too. They were both amazed by them. :) And a cute notebook is a must for every occasion. I do not believe it is possible to have too many.

Snap!! One of the bloggers that I follow, Ashley from Lil Blue Boo is going to be at Snap too (read it on her blog). If you get a moment check out her blog. She has been battling Cancer and has decided to Choose Joy. One tough cookie that woman is. Just thought I should tell you that cause I got so excited thinking you two will be at the same place. I just got back from Salt Lake and I love that place. Hope you have a great time and I know you will be terrific when you speak. Loved the gift ideas, nothing better than an unexpected treat bag.

I’m bringing gifts for my BlogHer roomies. But first, I need to dash out and buy that nail polish – I’ve been looking for a perfect aqua – not too blue, not too mint – for the past year!

I haven’t ever been to a Snap conference. Would love to go someday maybe. It looks like so much fun. I have however been to many a woman’s conference or retreat and I always bring goodies. I love words… (go figure) so usually I would write a note or poem or scripture for my friends and then leave candies, nail things, hair things, and sometimes even stickers. I love flare buttons too as a lil token gift. They say so much and are so little and cute. Hope you have a wonderful time.
