InstaFriday

Simple moments from your week.  Sharing, connecting, and encouraging.

It’s our gig around here.

IN FACT, PLEASE BE SURE TO READ TO THE BOTTOM…I HAVE AN INSTACHALLENGE FOR YOU NEXT WEEK!!!!

We don’t have ice cream trucks that drive around our neighborhoods, but they do jingle their way around where my mom lives.

You really HAVE to, right?

And it MUST be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pop.  MUST.

For me.  The 31 year old. My kids got some atrocity that turned their mouths blue.  Pshaw.  They don’t know what they’re missing.

As a mature adult this is the only ice cream I can get from the muscial truck.  The only difference being that I just skip the disgusting gumball eyes I once loved as a kid.

Remember my declaration to embrace color last week?

I wasn’t kidding.

I still haven’t planted them though.  Today.  Maybe.

It’s been miserably windy outside.  Boo.

This, however, was NOT a Pinterest Fail.

Granted, I didn’t do a whole lot besides dust off an old wooden toolbox and put some sunny flowers in it.  Can’t quite mess that up.

But I do love that I was inspired to bring a really cool and meaningful piece into the house and put it on display in an unexpected way.  Now, instead of great grandpa’s toolbox living on a dusty shelf hidden in the garage, it lives on my fireplace where everyone can enjoy it.

That makes me happy.

Okay, and NOW for an InstaChallenge!

Remember how I said I was in a rut?  Well, not only was I needing creativity, I realized I was also needing to think outside of myself a little more too.  And I love encouraging you guys to do the same.

So this week, let’s rock social media for good.

Let’s take what the world intended for shameless self promotion and use it for spreading love.

We gotta find a way to use this technological tool…this new form of communication…and make it truly worth our time.

This week, amid your regular routine, take your kids and buy some canned food.  Talk to them about it.  Why it matters.  Capture your moments.  Use the hashtag #instafooddrive.  And then be sure to include your canned food love in next week’s InstaFriday.  Participants in the #instafooddrive will be entered to win a prize…but that’s not why you’ll be doing it, right?

Spread the word too?  Capture the image above and insta it?

How many cans can we collect?  Just think: if every person who links up on InstaFriday (average 175) donates 10 cans…that’s 1,750 cans of food!!!  Easy.

Bring it.

Okay, your turn.  What did you do this week?

But more importantly, are you gonna help others in a very 21st century way this week?

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Great-Grandpa Andy would love your kids, Jeannett, as much as he loved your husband as a boy. He would be happy that his toolbox lives with your family. No telling how old it is or who he got it from. Thanks for this sweetness.

I love the antique toolbox with the flowers. This kind of toolbox is also great for displaying books. I use something similar in my son’s room. Love your food drive idea too!
