Another week of silly moments and funny filters.
What have you been up to?
A giant bucket of Andy’s old Legos has found its way into the heart of my four year old.
I’m not happy.
I admit they make a mess and hurt when you step on them…but the *real* reason I can’t stand them?
Having to protect creations from little sister hands.
Constant, never ending, protecting of towers and planes and cars and whatsits.
I don’t remember signing up for this.
While shopping for a new watch, I saw this little sign in a jewelry store.
It seemed so…wrong? Gross? Sad?
While I’ll admit liking shiny, sparkly things and owning some diamonds…and I certainly enjoyed looking at the brightly lit displays…and of course I’m all for helping to provide resources to our brothers and sisters around the world…but this…this didn’t sit right.
It wasn’t that $10 from all sales would be donated.
No.
It was $10 from one specific charm.
A charm, that by the way, was ugly.
I visited the site and I’m still unsure. I want to think the best of the people who are putting this together. I want to believe they are well intentioned.
But for some reason it bugged me. A lot.
Am I crazy? Make me believe otherwise.
Fifteen.
Fifteen sticks of butter.
That’s how many you need when you TRIPLE Pioneer Woman’s cinammon roll recipe.
It took Nelle and I 5 hours of solid working in the kitchen to finish.
But a fresh out of the oven roll of sugary goodness and a mug of cold milk at the end of it?
Worth every greasy step.
I really try to be a good mom and do fun memory making kinds of things with my kids.
But there’s two things I just refuse to do: 1) carve pumpkins, and 2) build gingerbread houses.
They’re just way too much messy work. (This coming from the woman who just spent five hours making cinnamon rolls.)
It’s a good thing my kids have Nelle.
She takes care of both for me.
Plus, I get to sit and watch and laugh when the frosting isn’t gluing the pieces together properly and the whole thing is slip sliding all over the place and she’s ready to pull her hair out.
And no, I don’t help.
I just point and laugh.
Because I’m mean like that.
I call this the “Hot Mess” look.
Or the “Jill you looking goooooood” look.
It also oddly reminds me of Eminem’s mom in the 8 Mile movie.
Her thin wispy hair can look so precious pulled into little piggie buns…or like a crazy nest of blonde when you don’t wrangle it into place.
One of her therapists once commented “Her hair is always so cute! I can’t believe you do it like that every day!”
Oh honey. You should see what it looks like if I don’t.
Exhibit A.
So what did you do this week?
Grab a button, link up and visit at least two other linkers and leave them a sweet comment.
Yay for PW cinnamon rolls! On my to-do list for the weekend!
Holy butter, batman!!
Love that bedhead!!
I’ve heard a lot about this Pioneer Woman cinnamon roll recipe lately, I’m going to have to try it out!
OMG, now I HAVE to make those cinnamon rolls! We do the gingerbread TREES every year. They stack with a little frosting in between and are SOOOO much easier than gingerbread houses. I also recently learned that my local grocery store sold premade houses, just put the candy on. GENIUS!
You CRACK me up woman! Especially when I read the 8 mile part. :-)
I went to WalMart the other day in search of REAL butter and there was NONE to be found! I can’t wait for our publix to open, they always have things in stock! ;)
Your daughter is adorable, Hot Mess Hair or not! :)
I’m off to check out that website, to see if you’re crazy. ;)
I love the Hot Mess look!!!
Oh my gosh! You totally cracked me up with that “Eminem’s mom in 8 Mile” comment! So funny!!
Okay that butter is crazy! Now I have to make those rolls, what a nice gift to give. Your kids are so sweet :)
holy butter!!!!
aw jilly bean. so cute. my girlie’s hair is just like that!!!
WOW – that is an insane amount of butter. I must give those babies a try. Maybe just one batch, though! :D
That’s a WHOLE lot of butter!! You know, I get depressed sometimes too when I am purposefully trying to buy gifts that give back only to find out the amount they are giving is 10% or less of the whole purchase. I wish good intentions weren’t so clouded by gimmicks that you had to think twice about doing them
I love the butter pic.
I would love a cinnamon roll right now to give me the energy to finish my wrapping!
Your post is great. It made me smile. What a candid life. Those are a lot of butter and what a cute little blonde girl. Thanks for sharing. :)
