InstaFriday

I’m a little late on the posting thing again.

This week has been crazy.

It’s been beyond insane.  Heartbreaking.  Exhausting.

So I also only have a handful of instas to share.

Snapping a picture isn’t my first thought when my son has stomach flu…all over me.

Good times.

I know you’re jealous.

We are working through the month with our Jesse Advent book.

The difference between this year and last is so huge.

Henry understands so much more.  He asks random questions throughout the day.  It’s starting to click.

While things are crazy, the house is still only half decorated, and I can’t get the motivation to put the finishing touches on the holiday festivities, this has been like the glue that makes it work anyway.

I am love love loving this tradition.  I’m so excited at the thought of doing it for years to come.

Something I don’t love is this creeptastic doll they sell at the Walmarts.

If ever you’ve considered that a doll will come to life and kill you in your sleep, I’m fairly certain it would be this one.

The picture doesn’t do it justice.

It’s 1,000 times creepier in real life.

This girl.

Who gave us such a fright.

Spent two days crying.

Not like grumpy, oh she’s sad and sick crying.

But non-stop, hysterical, inconsolable, back arching, colic on steroids crying.  For two days straight.

I crawled into the fetal position one morning and just sobbed.  Because I hated seeing her like that.  Because I was losing my mind.

But when she woke up from a nap on Wednesday and smiled up at me…the first smile I had seen in three days…I cried different tears.

Perspective my friends.

It’s a painfully beautiful thing.

And of course my friends, my heart still aches for Xander too.

Regardless of what goes on in my four walls, I can’t ignore what goes on in the rest of our broken world.

“Life doesn’t always go as planned.  Help others anyway.”

There’s a reason that’s this blog’s tagline.

This week is a perfect illustration of that.

While I paced the emergency room hallway as my girl was intubated, I couldn’t help but think of Xander.  Not just Xander…but all of the orphans.  All 200 million of them.  Who don’t have a worried mom pacing and praying on their behalf.  Who don’t have access to state of the art care.  Who don’t have someone to hold their hand and whisper in their ear and wash the vomit out of their hair.

That camera up there?  I’m giving it away.

Plus a KitchenAid stand mixer.  Plus more.  Enter to win them.

And “help others anyway” today.

Even if you’ve got an overflowing plate yourself.

It’s the best kind of worth it I can think of.

Now it’s YOUR turn!

Grab a button, link up and comment on at least two other linker uppers!  Comments are nice and I’m a fan of nice.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Oh my! Praying that your little girl is much, much better now. I’ve been there, not knowing what in the world is wrong. But you’re right, at least we get to be there for our children. To hold them and love them. Praying for Xander too.

awwwe! I am so sorry that your baby was sick this week! I know how hard it is to see your baby suffer and wish that you can take their suffering on for them. My son was sick like that a while ago and I was so exhausted from being up with him and seeing him in pain. Sending you mama-vibes and well wishes! So glad your baby is feeling better! Cause’ you know: happy baby means happy mommy :)
