InstaFriday

Share the silly, the everyday, the random using nothing but cell phone pics!

Any cell phone pictures work, it doesn’t have to be an iPhone!

I always think it’s funny when companies tout that they have a “new” recipe…and guess what kids????

It’s actual REAL 100% FOOD product!

Which seems to imply that apparently the mozzarella was previously some un-cheesy concoction of chemicals, right?

Or is that just me?

Like when McDonald’s had an entire advertising campaign that their burgers now used 100% beef….um, gross.  I really don’t want to know what it used to be.

Nasty sauce.

My absolute favorite breakfast.

Mountain View Vanilla yogurt.  Lowfat.  (They have non-fat too, but it’s not nearly as good.)

Strawberries.

Grape Nuts (or in my case, the store brand.

Happy, happy, happy.

So good.

I’m not sure how good it is for me, but I feel like it’s gotta be better than Cap’n Crunch right?

Thanks to my sweet friend Tracy who gave us a gift card to Olive Garden…just in time for never ending pasta bowl!

Which is funny because I can never finish more than one bowl anyway.

The kids on the other hand ate and ate and ate…it was fun watching them slurp up all that pasta!

I had a happy mail day on Tuesday.

My shipment of Proactiv finally came!!!

I’m irrationally excited about starting this.

I’ve tried ev.er.y.thing.

Cheap stuff.  Expensive stuff.  Stuff you can only get at department stores.  Beauty magazine Best Buys and and Editor Picks.

At best, it did nothing.

At worst, it made me break out in a rash.

Hoping this works!

My happy mail day was soon made sad.

I know that being a stay at home mom in California means I can get out of it.

It’s just one more thing to deal with.

And I’m always secretly convinced they’re gonna make me the exception or something.

What?

Is Jesus coming back???!!!

Colored towels???

I’ll share the why of the pink, green and purple towels next week (with a little giveaway too!).

But yes…for the first time ever, there are non-white towels in my home.

I may break out in hives.

“The Positively Perfect Gift For Princesses of All Ages.”

You know, I get the whole ‘we are daughters of the King’ thing.

I really do.

And I honestly have nothing against the Disney Princesses in general.

My girls have a couple of Cinderella and Belle dolls.

But somehow there seems to be something wrong with this.

Somehow…a blinged out, glittered, pink patent leather bible seems…not. quite. right.

What do you think?

Okay, now it’s your turn!

Grab a button, and link up!

And don’t forget to leave comment love on at least 2 other linker uppers!  It’s nice and I’m a fan of nice.  :)

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Thanks for the link up! It’s my first time!!!!! I posted my pics earlier this week. I like that you have this linky party! So fun!!!!

  2. 2

haha it took me a second to get the 100% mozarella commentary until i read the 100% beef for mcdonalds patty.. yeah seriously! and you need a marketing degree for that job?

i can never eat more than one bowl of pasta too! good thing my boys always bring their appetite! makes it worth the time!

the pink gliterry flashy princess bible is a bit much. are we proud that we are holding THE word of God or are we more proud that it’s got all the gliterry goodness that quickly catches the eye?

LOVE the princess bible!! I wish they had that when I was little! Very cute :)

I thought the same thing when I saw the new Chuck E Cheese marketing — what in the world was in that crazy cheese before? Scary.

I think the princess bible is a little much! but i suppose if it makes a little girl want to read the bible, then whatever works!

ugh – jury duty! i once was selected to serve on the grand jury in knoxville … we met twice a week for 3 freaking months. awesome that you can get out of it!

that princess bible makes me what to throw up. Probably a good thing that I have boys :)

My son had been begging to go to Chuckie Cheese for sometime now, he’s never been, so it’s good to know they now use real mozzarella. Ha! Thanks for hosting again!

I’m with you… gross when they have to advertise the food is now real-
I hope the Proactive works for you. My husband LOVES it so much he is a distributor.
And my little princess has that Bible, it’s a good one.
    Happy Friday!

Well, it looks like some commenters say the Princess Bible is a good one, but is that because there’s glitter and crowns on all of the pages? Isn’t The Bible basically The Bible? I don’t think it’s meant to make little princesses read the Bible, it’s meant to sell Bibles to little princesses. Also, I have a friend who eats your breakfast (I am addicted to Quaker Oat Squares) and she likes to change up her fruits-like blueberries or peaches—and she sometimes uses Kefir, which is a more liquid yogurt. Just some ideas for you. Thanks for hosting InstaFriday!

I used Proactiv in high school and it totally worked for me! I would put the lotion all over my face and then put dots on the pimpled area so it would dry them out faster. Stung a little bit, but it worked! Good luck!

I said no to the princess Bible when my daughters were getting theirs last year for AWANA and we have princess everything. I do think they have a Knight counterpart for my boys of all ages though…

Breakfast… captain crunch is actually made with real ingredients. No HFCS, no hydrogenated oils. It’s made with coconut oil. It obviously has sugar, but so does that vanilla yogurt. :) I buy it for a treat for my kiddos once in a while. I love yogurt with granola for dessert. My fav is plain yogurt with agave, mini chocolate chips and a spoonful of granola.

And the jury summons does stink, but I think you get a long exemption period at least. I don’t believe CO gives a crap that I stay at home. Thankfully I don’t check the mail much.

And I love the towels, especially the pink one!

Proactiv totally worked for me, I used it in my early 20s when my skin was really bad. It stings a bit and did dry out my skin in the beginning but it is seriously amazing stuff. I’ve actually been having some problem areas lately and have been thinking about going back to it.
Love this link up!! I just posted my first one last week and it’s definitely going to be a weekly thing for me. Thanks for starting it!!

  12. 12

thanks for hosting!!! nice to meet new people!!!

and all the pics are so fun to see what folks do all week!! haha!!

  13. 13

Jeannett thank you so much for hosting the instagram linky party. It is definitely one of my favorite posts of the week, and I so enjoy the quick peek into so many other lives!

Jury summons always sent me into anxiety mode just seeing them in the mail. Just the thought of someone separating me from my children was just too much! Like you, it was always in the back of my mind, a fear of a mix up, where I still would be called, fortunately the reality is, I never was!

Wishing you and yours a lovely week, and again thanks so much for hosting my dear!

  14. 14

Hi there. Just an FYI. The Proactive bleaches colors from towels, and really anything it comes in contact with. Which, now i realize that should not be a problem for you since you use ALL white :). It is a great product, just be careful of your shirts and things.

  15. 15

Jury duty STINKS! Ugh! Colorado has NO exemptions for at-home moms, period. So what did I do when I got a summons? I just plain didn’t show up. Because, you know, I have FIVE KIDS. And my husband works, because we need to, you know, eat. Anyway. Don’t get me started on jury duty! Fight the power! :)

The Princess Bible actually doesn’t really bother me that much. It’s a little obnoxious, but children’s Bibles are pretty much all marketed for their illustrations and how they look. The Evangelical Christian book marketing machine is rather annoying in general, I must say.

Can’t wait to see what those non-white-towels-in-the-Gibson-household are for!

And, I LOVE the yogurt/berries/grapenuts combo! (Much better than Cap’N Crunch, I say!)

  16. 16

First week for me, can’t wait to go look at the other sites! 100% Pure has a wonderful line of products that are great for your skin even if your new product helps you might want to check out their moisturizers and make up. I’ve been using it for years, no I don’t work for them :) just good stuff.

  17. 17

I’m late to the party, but I had to link up. LOVE this linky and seeing what others capture in the everyday moments of their lives with their phone! Thanks so much for hosting and hope you’re having an excellent Friday!

  18. 18

Um, hi were we like separated at birth?! LoL I felt like I was reading about my life! The non fat Mountain View vanilla yogurt tasted like sour cream…which I love…on a potato. I just read on a pack of Nutter Butter’s I bought (because I’m healthy like that) “made with real peanut butter” wait REALLY?! This whole time it was made with something ELSE? And I just told my husband I’m ordering Pro Active because at 28 I should NOT have the complexion of an adolescent boy.

  19. 19

I LOVE your Insta-Fridays!! Love ’em! I have so much fun with the link up and photo editing ON my phone!! TOO COOL!! Thanks for starting this!

  20. 20

Hey, Jeannett. I’m not sure I get how the link party works. I’m putting your link on my blog, but I don’t see “myself” on your page, as a link up. So, I guess I’m missing something. Help! ;)

  21. 21

    1. you are going to want to run off to bora bora with pro-activ. seriously. LOVE that stuff. 2. feel you on the towels. 3. everyone needs a bling bible.

  22. 22

yummm Love me some Olive Garden.. :)

  23. 23

I finally made it – what a week with school starting I can’t believe how fast InstaFriday comes up – I actually prefer to view instagram this way now – so much easier on my computer plus you all give the backstory which makes it so much more rich!

    TGIF!

  24. 24

Thanks for the link up! I just discovered you last week…after I had put up a week of cell phone pics. Great minds, right? ;)
I totally laughed when I saw your pic of the Chuck E Cheese coupon. Those were my EXACT thoughts when we got them in the mail a few weeks ago. Um….sooooo gross to think about what the “cheese” was before!!!

    Brenda Williams says:

Good luck with the Proactiv! Its the only thing that has ever worked for me; I use in every other day or so to keep clear. Love love love.

  26. 26

    Love the colored towels.

  27. 27

Never-ending pasta bowls. Yeah, right? I will order a second bowl of something, but Dan ends up eating it because I’m too full. Why do I do that? So, I’ve missed a couple of weeks. Trying to get back into the groove of InstaFriday and my other stuff. Thanks, Jeannett, for this Friday fun. hugs

  28. 28

What the freak with the towels?

I am so so so curious. I am team white towels. It better be good because I am STRESSSING OUT about it.
    Stressed. A lot.

  29. 29

    1) I always get booted out of jury duty. I work in a field that involves cops and lawyers. Of course, I’m usually in the courthouse for 2 full days before the boot.

    2) I contain my cystic acne with a basis bar, 10% hydrogen peroxide gel and Neutragenas alpha hydroxy moisturizer. Aside from benzamycin, a prescription, this has kept my skin clear for several years.

    Love the towels!!!!

  30. 30

i don’t have insta phone stuff so i can’t insta friday but i will comment on the bible…….i want one for me.
i agree about the princess crap.
    hate princess stuff.
but i would be ok with a blingy pink bible under my arm. :)

  31. 31

I’m 42 and still get occasional breakouts (seriously?) so I do use Proactiv from time to time (every day is too drying for me so I use Cetaphil cleanser). Also, apple cider vinegar works GREAT as a de-zit-er, just dab some on with a q-tip.

Be careful with your colored towels & Proactiv–it bleaches stuff.

  32. 32

I totally agree with the 100% food thing… ick!
I swear by Mary Kay. My skin was HORRIBLE and the proactive didn’t work. But Mary Kay did. Let me know if it doesn’t work and I’ll hook ya up! (My Gma sells MK!)

  33. 33

Hope ProActive works for you! I, too, am on a constant hunt for a solution to my acne problems. I thought getting older would make them go away but nosomuch. ProActive really just dried out my skin too much. Hmm I might try out the commenter above mine’s recommendation for Mary Kay. Haven’t tried that yet. Have a good weekend!
