Chandeliers in the Kitchen & Personal Shoppers

I have a chandelier in my kitchen.

I also have a personal shopper.

Yes, I am a housewife.

Yet sadly, not on the cast of any of the “Real Housewives of…” shows.

I’d have to change out of my yoga pants for that I would imagine.

Because for as much of a baller as the first two sentences make  me sound, they really just mean I have hairbrained ideas and really nice friends.

Back up almost a year.

I saw these numbered canisters at Target.

LOVE at first sight.

Until I saw that it would cost me over $55 for the set.

Ew.

Not only did I not need canisters to begin with, but I certainly couldn’t justify dropping that much money on them.

But I eyed them lovingly every time I was shopping.

And I may or may not have pet them each visit.

After a few months, like all things at Target, they went on clearance.

For 75% off.

Holla!

Except….

that they only had the #2 and #3 left!

Horrors!

So I texted Julie: “AHHHH!!!!  What do I do????!!!!  Life and death.  Sure of it.”

Her response:

“Buy them.  We’ll find you the #1.”

Like an order from a drill sergeant, I really had no choice but to bring home the two randoms with no real assurance that I wouldn’t be stuck with canisters that had people constantly asking me “what’s with the 23?”.

Within three days, Julie had gone to three different Targets (there are 6 near her!!!) and found my precious #1!!!!

For $4.97.

Life. is. good.

It doesn’t take much.

Did any of you catch that I wanted a mini chandelier for over my kitchen sink at the end of this post?

Well, Julie did.

Because she’s rad like that.

And two weeks later she told me she found one at Ikea.

So cute.  (and cheap!)

Well, after a little spraypaint that is.  Because everything is made better with spraypaint.

Everything.

Always.

The color is Dark Walnut…so it’s actually a really dark brown…which matches the oil rubbed bronze I have for all of the hardware.

I love that I have a chandelier in my kitchen.

It’s fairly random, but Meg does it too so I can’t be the only crazy one.

I feel all glamorous and fancy dumping congealed milk out of sippy cups found under furniture.

Like I said: It doesn’t take much.

I’m good with it.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is InstaFriday!

You ready?

And Monday…I have something big coming!

Do you think my chandy in the kitchen is random or fun? I think Andy’s still a little unsure…

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

I agree with Rachel, it is random and fun. I like it and as long as you like it that’s all that matters. I love it even more after you spraypainted it. And on a side note, I need a Julie in my life.

I totally died laughing when you said, “feeling fancy while dumping congealed milk”…. Seriously milk can become a science experiment in sippy cups!

Loooove the chandy over the sink, so sweet!

I LOVE the chandelier in the kitchen. It immediately made me want a chandelier in my kitchen. Right. Now. And I do agree that a little bling is quite nice. A splash of fancy is good for the spirit.

    Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE the kitchen!! Also, I remember the #’d canisters at Target and waited until one was gone. I didn’t end up getting any of them. :( I also made a trip to IKEA this week and admired {yet again} this chandelier. Why didn’t I just buy it this time?!?! Love what you’ve done with it and I think it’s PERFECT in your kitchen!
