Woodland Theme {twin!} Baby Shower

You know what I loooooove????

Like, lovey love love love?

Throwing parties.

So when my friend Jen announced she was pregnant with boy/girl twins (eek!) I immediately emailed Tracy and started brainstorming.

As an aside, Jen is married to one of the biz partners with my husband.

The point being: what are the odds that 2 out of 3 business partners has naturally occurring twins???!!!  Crazy.

Boy/Girl showers can be hard to do…and without offense to the “two peas in a pod” themes out there, I wanted to do something different.

When I saw this party by Bird Crafts I pretty much died.

And when I came back to life I was super inspired.

It started with this invite.  With special props to Julie who saved me from throwing my computer out the second story window.

She emailed it back finished in like 6 minutes.  Mad skillz that girl.

On my way to Tracy’s to prep, I stopped at this shower for an hour.  SO cute.  Loved it.

Tracy’s house was perfect for a woodland theme.  Do you see the gorgeous oaks out the window?  And the rain on the glass?  Love.

And now…for some details!  Enjoy!

Pops of red were easy when I used my Le Creuset as accent pieces.

These mason jar terrariums were my favorite detail.  Such a simple project and so fun!

The cakes were a gift from a guest…from the world famous (for real) Madonna Inn.  Delicious.  And cute to boot!

Tracy and her mom were in charge of food (while I focused on decor)…and I was IMPRESSED.  The cheese spread?  People.  This was straight out of a gourmet restaurant!  Cabernet Soaked Cheddar!  Who knew?!

I told them we make a good team…maybe when we all have extra time on our hands we should start an event planning biz…oh wait…extra time…

Tracy also made mushroom shaped sugar cookies as favors and these bird nest things…of which I ate…one…two…three.

Yes, three chocolatey bird nests of goodness.  I’m kinda drooling right now just thinking about them.

In case people might think it was vodka in those bottles, we made sure to label everything.  ;)

I shopped my house for extra detail pieces…like this orange colander from my kitchen…

And this glass apothecary and wooden ball things that normally live in my master bedroom and a red polka dot oilcloth I’ve had for a few years.

Simple terra cota pots with a slapshot coat of white paint to give it a weathered look and some white flowers I planted a few weeks earlier to give them time to “fluff” up.  Lined up all in a row on top of this great rock table runner that Tracy had been wanting to buy anyway for a while now.  Perfect!

The butterlies came in a 10 pack from Michaels and those wooden-esque placemats were from…wait for it…the 99 cent store!

Printable woodland clippy art from here.

Remember those empty frames I bought at that Estate Salea few months ago?

.

And the guest of honor, Jen, who is holding up mighty well if I do say so!

Thanks to Tracy and Lynn for all their hard work and Jen for having babies!!!

I had fun…can you tell?  :)

Linking up with Bird Here.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.
