Christmas 2010

***Don’t forget to read all about The Great $1 Push and enter to win a Silhouette Die Cutting Machine!!!***

As always, Christmas in our parts consists of a whirlwind of fun, a ton of family, and lots and lots of hanging out in PJ’s.

I sifted through what felt like 8,000 images on my memory card to find a handful to blog.  I suppose that’s the downside to digital photography.  Since there is no film to waste, you can end up with a mountain of files!

Christmas Eve was spent lazying around, hot cocoa with mini marshmallows, beanies, and Gaucho riding.

Make your own pizzas for dinner may not be the most traditional of Christmas Eve dinners, but it’s always fun and filling.

And then came the crash.

I knew without even looking up what happened.

My heart was in the pit of my stomach.

Someone had put Jilly in her high chair for dinner…but the tray hadn’t latched.

And she fell out.

And face planted.

God is good though.

Because instead of landing face first onto the hard and unforgiving tile floor, she landed on the underside of the highchair tray.

Visions of broken face bones and a second ambulance ride to the emergency room in a week filled my head as I raced around the counter to my littlest girl.

Lucky for us, she was fine.  Beat up looking, but fine.

I spent the next two days calling her Rocky Balboa.  Poor little one.  She just can’t seem to get a break.  :(

The kids got new pajamas, we wrote a letter to Santa, and Andy logged onto NORAD’s Santa Tracking site.

Where we saw that Santa was in Rio de Janeiro and on his way.

Technology is fabulous and hysterical.  If you haven’t checked it out before, you really need to next year.  They even have “real time” web video of Santa’s flight.  We got to see Santa flying around the Jesus statue in Rio.  So fun.

Henry woke up the next morning at 6:10.

“Mommy, can you check the computer and see if Santa was here yet?”

A child of the digital age…nevermind we could walk downstairs and just look

NORAD told us that Santa’s 2010 flight was indeed complete.

But it was awfully early.  And we had people sleeping on air mattresses in the living room.  6 a.m. might be a tad soon to go traipsing down.

I was able to distract him for 45 minutes by reading books and playing in his room.  Finally, even I got tired of waiting.

So we headed down.

And that Santa!  He DID bring a red race car!!!

And he brought Lucy her very own pair of rainboots.  Now she doesn’t have to borrow her brother’s.

Jill got a xylophone dog…that was promptly “shared” with her sister.

Jill’s face looked much better by morning.  A little bruised, but still really stinking cute.

Speaking of Jill, can I just point out that my big girl is now CRAWLING ON ALL FOURS!!!

She waited for Christmas morning to show off her new skills.

Best. Christmas. Present. Ever.  Love, Mama.

But it’s tough work, so she had to take a break.  Love that kid.

I don’t know why, but I just LOVE this picture of my kids.

Gifts were torn open.  Coffee was sipped.  Toys were unwrapped.

Little girls wore beaded necklaces and played with new dollies.

Mama scored a Jo’s Tote.  And a reminder that she really needs to cut her bangs.  What is that?!  Flock of Seagulls fan much???!!!  Ugh.

And with all the excitement, Lu needed a break.  Put her feet up.  Relax and such.

And we played.

And played.

I made Pioneer Woman Cinammon Rolls.  Which, are in fact, as fabulously delicious as she proclaims.

Apparently there was a boxing match in my kitchen as I cooked…

…and some weird fashion photo shoot of goofy faces.

I swear…the strangest things happen in my kitchen!

This year was my favorite Christmas so far.  Henry “understood” what was going on, and is 18 months not the BEST age ever?!

They’re still babies, but so much fun!

I hope your Christmas was as fun and full of family and praise as ours was!

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Looks like you guys had a blast! My daughter face-planted straight into my cedar chest (complete with front drawer handles ugh), has a nice little cut and a huge bruise… Rocky Balboa, indeed!
