Random Tip & An Announcement

Okay, this is super random, but I still think it’s worth sharing.

I’ve never been shy about telling people that I’m really neurotic about my house smelling weird.

I have two big dogs that basically only ever go outside to do their business.

I was always one of those “animals belong OUTSIDE” kind of people.

So, having funky smelling carpet has always been a secret fear.

So, I buy baking soda in a 13.5 pound bag.

Yes, pounds.

How much baking can one girl do???

A lot, but not 13.5 pounds worth.

I use it to make my own carpet deodorizer.

It’s not weird.

Promise.

At Target, you’ll pay around $2.49 for a 2 lb. box of this stuff:

You know what’s in there?

Baking soda.

And a few drops of scent.

Dude.

Here’s what you need:

Baking soda ($5.99 at Costco for 13.5 lbs.)

Scented oil drops ($2 in the candle aisle at Michaels or more expensive at a health food store)

Empty container of Parmesean Cheese (run it thru the dishwasher before use…obvs)

{It’s hard to say how much this ends up costing because I don’t know how many drops are in an oil bottle, but it’s definately less than$1}

Fill container halfway with baking soda.

Add 10-15 drops of your oil.  Personally, I prefer light, fruity scents…cucumber melon or lemon.  But use whatever you like.

Shake well.

Top off baking soda.

Make sure you leave a little bit of room so you can shake it all up again.

Sprinkle.

Vaccuum.

Be less neurotic.

Make your house smell yummy.

Use less packaging.

Have one less thing to put on your shopping list every week.

Feel hip and modern that you did something eco in like 8 seconds.

But don’t tell anyone that you think jarred parmesean cheese tastes like cardboard so you waited until it was on sale and dumped the entire thing into the trash just so you could have the container.

Or that you really only did it because you are cheap and lazy.

And now…

for my announcement!

Ready?!

It’s big!

It’s exciting!!!

No…gee whiz.

I am not pregnant.

Good grief!

Can’t a girl have an announcement without being preggers???

Geez.

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.
