In celebration of Andy’s big three-oh, I whisked him away to Santa Barbara.
For our first overnight away.
Alone.
Without kids.
SINCE we’ve had kids.
Whoa.
Hold me up folks!!!
It’s like a weird dream!
We spent the day wandering State Street and poking into the fun shops.
I about died in Sur La Table.
I love me some fancy kitchen stores.
I think I lovingly petted every piece of red Le Creuset on their shelves.
Andy bought some Whiskey Stones there.
And some cargo shorts from Old Navy.
Because we are big spenders like that.
We wandered the pier.
We stayed at the Harbor View Inn.
That’s it in that picture up there.
It came upon the recommendation of Lisa.
And I would further the recommendation.
It was lovely.
RIGHT across from the beach.
Super nice.
Go in the off season…on a Sunday night…MUCH cheaper.
So don’t go to their website thinking I paid those prices.
Because I didn’t.
Doesn’t he look elegant?
Too bad he’s just plotting how to poop on your head.
Da#* seagulls.
We had a fabulously fancy dinner.
Andy ordered himself some lobster.
And filet.
mignon.
*cough* *choke* *cough*
Breathe.
It’s his birthday.
We talked.
Like, ACTUALLY talked.
Without being interrupted.
Bizarre.
We obeyed the laws of the pier and we did not fish.
We did not, however, have our palms read by the talented Madame Roskina.
Nor did we take in a pirate cruise.
Although I’m sure that would have been lovely.
We did not sail around the harbor in our private sail boat.
Nor did we retreat to our mansion on the hill.
We just walked around…
enjoying the calm only the ocean can bring.
And I got up early and sat on the patio in a big fluffy white robe.
Cup of hot coffee.
And a magazine with ad after ad for homes on sale for $29,000,000.
No, that’s not a typo.
MILLION.
Twenty nine of them.
Our trip was nice.
Short.
Too short.
But the way my three squealed with delight when we walked back in the door…
priceless.
Speaking of the ocean, have you given to Surfer Healing?
Have you read Mique’s story?
If you haven’t, you’re missing out.
Consider giving.
Even a buck.
Or $29,000,000.
Whichever works for you. ;)
I chuckle every time I read your stuff. Brilliant.
Sounds like a plan to me. Maybe I’ll take Dan sometime. We’re going to see Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages on Sunday, his birthday, with Liz and Gregg. Fun family time together. Glad you had some time alone. love and hugs

Wow! Soooo jealous and such a nice get away. :) Hubs and I went away for our 10th anniversary and the 1st few hours we didn’t know what to do with ourselves. But, after that, we remembered how much we liked each other and how much fun we both are and it rocked!! Stopping by from SITS.:)
