Non-Update

Been busy. Nothing exciting, just the holidays and traveling and all that. Sorry for the long time between posts.

Had my first doctor appointment today. Waited for almost an hour in the waiting room PAST my appointment time. Just a standard check up and had some labs drawn. I have an ultrasound appointment for January 7th. Unless there’s something wrong, it will be only one of two ultrasounds (the other will be to determine the sex of the baby at 22 weeks). I told the doctor that I wanted as little intervention as possible. Which means no pain meds, no breaking my water, no episiotomy, only 2 ultrasounds (neither of which I NEED, but I like to make sure there’s only one peanut in there and I want to know if I have to buy pink or blue paint), and no meds throughout the pregnancy in general. He’s really nice and asked me if I was okay with a hospital birth. I told him no, but I didn’t have much choice in the matter at this point. He said he would be sure to let the nurses know ahead of time, so that they are extra nice and can make my stay as easy as possible. We’ll see. (In case you don’t know, Brenda moved to Idaho…which puts a home birth out of the question at this point. There is another midwife on the Central Coast, but with Henry’s impending heart surgery we just can’t afford to drop the additional money on a midwife PLUS the high deductible we have with our plan).

I am 10 weeks along and look like I’m 6 months. It’s shocking. I’ve gained 8 pounds. Holy moly. I think a lot of it is because I was so nauseous in the beginning that I was constantly stuffing my face trying to curb the sickies. It’s almost all gone now…I have days of nausea, but by and large, it’s mosly gone. Let’s just hope I can lose the weight as quickly as I did last time…sheesh.

Did you show shockingly sooner with subsequent pregnancies?

I'm a mom to four. A wife to one. I believe in story. I love telling you about mine and would love to hear yours. There's really no sense in wasting our suffering and not sharing in each other's joy. We're all in this together...even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Glad to hear you are doing well! I have many friends who have had 2nd and third pregnancies and they ALWAYS start showing much sooner, and seem bigger. Maybe our bodies have memories about being pregnant and just fall back into it easier? hehe. Any idea which hospital you’ll be going to? French was AWESOME…totally easygoing and they really let the experience be what you want it to be.
    Merry Christmas Gibsons!

Amen for French Hospital!! And Doulas! Those two things combined for the ideal birth experience you are describing. I LOVED it. So, good for you discussing your goals right off the bat.

I feel like I still look four months pregnant nearly 2 years after my 2nd was born. Exercise keeps my middle in check, but I haven’t the last 2 months and I wouldn’t be caught dead in a dress.

I popped out immediately with my second! Which reminds me that I was going to get you my Bella-bands!! I will dig those out for you, sorry for my lameness. You know my praises to French.

Where have I been. I didn’t know about Henry. And yes, I grew almost immediately when I found out and said, “I’m pregnant again?” And I haven’t lost all the baby fat after 23 years!!! I feel for you and for your daycare gal. I’m hoping we can stick around, too. I’ll have to update you on our situation or you can try and search out my story on my blog. Anyway, Jeannett…you, Andy and Henry have a very Merry Christmas.

So glad things are going smoothly! And that you’re feeling better.

As we’ve discussed I’m showing already. It’s rather interesting, and it’s the first time it’s happened so soon!

sorry about the midwife thing. :( i hope your experience is as good as possible.

yep, totally showed sooner with subsequent pregnancies. in fact, with number three, i showed before i knew i was pregnant (at 5 1/2 weeks!). yeah, should have tipped me off but i thought i was just bloated or needed to do some serious sit ups.
